  • The aim of this study was to investigate the biodiversity and structure of the Carabidae community living at the edges of a Ramsar wetland in northeastern Algeria, as well as to analyze the effect of environmental variables on this Carabidae community. The study site included two stations (T1, T2). From November 2016 to October 2017, the carabidofauna was sampled fortnightly using pitfall traps. The structure and diversity of the beetle community were measured using nonparametric indices, i.e. species richness, diversity indices, accumulation curves, and similarity analysis.

  • In this paper, we study convergence in probability for the estimator of nonparametric regression model based on pairwise independent errors with heavy tails. Firstly, we investigate laws of large numbers for sequences of pairwise independent random variables with heavy tails. By applying this result, we investigate convergence in probability for the estimator of nonparametric regression model. Simulations to study the numerical performance of the consistency for the nearest neighbor weight function estimator in nonparametric regression model are given.

  • Forecasting the hourly electricity spot price plays a crucial role for agents involved in energy day-ahead markets. However, traditional time series processes used for this issue model each hour separately not taking into account the intraday energy market microstructure information. In this paper, we appeal to a Functional Data Analysis (FDA) viewpoint that allows modeling and forecasting the intraday electricity spot price of the Colombian Electricity Market.

  • The nonparametric trend test (NPT) is well suitable for identifying the genetic variants associated with quantitative traits when the trait values do not satisfy the normal distribution assumption. If the genetic model, defined according to the mode of inheritance, is known, the NPT derived under the given genetic model is optimal. However, in practice, the genetic model is often unknown beforehand.

  • Unsupervised clustering represents one of the most widely applied methods in analysis of highthroughput ‘omics data. A variety of unsupervised model-based or parametric clustering methods and nonparametric clustering methods have been proposed for RNA-seq count data, most of which perform well for large samples, e.g. N ≥ 500.

  • Traditional econometric modelling typically follows the idea that market returns follow a normal distribution. However, the concept of tail risk indicates that the distribution of returns is not normal, but skewed and has heavy tails. Thus, a heavy-tailed distribution, which accurately estimates the tail risk, would significantly improve quantitative risk management practice. In this paper, we compare four widely used heavy-tailed distributions using the S&P 500 daily returns.

  • Accurate forecasting of Prices and Arrivals of Black pepper is vital for planning and policy purposes. An attempt is made here for modeling and forecasting of Prices and Arrivals of Black pepper for Bengaluru and Somwarpet markets time-series data by using the promising nonparametric methodology of Wavelet analysis in frequency domain. Maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform (MODWT) which, unlike discrete wavelet transform (DWT), does not require the number of data points to be a power of two is employed.

  • The present study is an attempt to find past trends of apple in Jammu and Kashmir using parametric, nonparametric and semi-parametric regression methods. The performance of each method is compared using higher values of R2 and lower values of residual criteria. It is found that the nonparametric/semi-parametric regression comes out to be good fit for trends in apple production in comparison to the parametric regression.
