MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs of about 19–25 nt that regulate gene expression posttranscriptionally under various cellular conditions, including apoptosis. The miRNAs involved in modulation of apoptotic events in T cells are partially known.

Epigenetic mechanisms control eukaryotic development beyond DNA-stored information. There are several pathways, including histone tail mod-ifications, histone variant incorporation, nucleosome remodelling, DNA methylation and noncoding RNAs that together all contribute to the dynamic ‘make-up’ of chromatin under distinct developmental options.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are noncoding regulatory RNAs that function via the degradation of target mRNAs and inhibition of translation. They are found widely in higher eukaryotic organisms, and in several species that have been closely examined, hundreds of miRNAs have thus far been discovered with mechanistically conserved, yet functionally diverse, roles necessary for the proper development, homeostasis and metabolism of the organisms.

MicroRNAs are an evolutionarily conserved class of endogenous noncod-ing RNAs that modulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Recently, microRNA-23a (miR-23a) has been found to function as a growth-promoting and antiapoptotic factor in hepatocellular carcinoma cells.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, noncoding RNAs of 18–25 nucleotides that are generally believed to either block the translation or induce the deg-radation of target mRNA. miRNAs have been shown to play fundamental roles in diverse biological and pathological processes, including cell prolif-eration, differentiation, apoptosis and carcinogenesis.

One of the least recognized causes of cellular damage duringex vivopreser-vation of red blood cells is oxidative injury to the hemoglobin. The latter has been associated with hemolysis through the release of toxic substances and oxidation of vital cell components.

Bacterial RNases are promising tools for the development of anticancer drugs. Neoplastic transformation leads to enhanced accumulation of rRNA and tRNA, and altered expression of regulatory noncoding RNAs. Cleav-age of RNA in cancer cells is the main reason for the cytotoxic effects of exogenic RNases.

MicroRNAs are a class of small noncoding RNAs that function as key reg-ulators of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Recently, micr-oRNA-373 (miR-373) has been found to function as an oncogene in testicular germ cell tumors.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small noncoding RNAs that have gained status as important regulators of gene expression. Recent studies have demonstrated that miRNAs are aberrantly expressed in the cardiovas-cular system under some pathological conditions.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) comprise species of short noncoding RNA that regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally. Recent studies have demon-strated that epigenetic mechanisms, including DNA methylation and his-tone modification, not only regulate the expression of protein-encoding genes, but also miRNAs, such as let-7a, miR-9, miR-34a, miR-124, miR-137, miR-148 and miR-203.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs (~22 nucleotides) that regulate gene expression by cleaving mRNAs or inhibiting translation. The baboon is a well-characterized cardiovascular disease model; however, no baboon miRNAs have been identified. Evidence indicates that the baboon and human genomes are highly conserved; based on this conservation, we hypothesized that comparative genomic methods could be used to identify baboon miRNAs.
