This paper investigates the nonlinear vibration of saturated porous functionally graded plate subjected to the combination of mechanical and thermal loadings. Three different distributions of porosity are considered. Based on the Biot and higher order shear deformation theories, the vibration characteristics including natural frequency, deflection amplitude – time curves and relation between frequency ratio and amplitude of the saturated porous plate are determined.

The nonlinear buckling behaviors of the functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) doubly curved shallow shells under external pressure in the thermal environment are introduced and investigated in this paper. The Donnell shell theory and the strain-displacement relationship of von Karman are used. At the bottom surface of FG-GPLRC doubly curve shallow shells, the FG-GPLRC stiffener system in the transverse, longitudinal, or/and oblique directions is installed to increase the bearing capacity of the shallow shells.

A semi-analytical approach of nonlinear vibration of functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) doubly curved shallow shells stiffened by longitudinal or transversal FG-CNTRC stiffeners by using the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) with the geometrical nonlinearities in von Kármán sense is reported in this paper. The novel smeared stiffener technique is improved for FG-CNTRC stiffeners according to the FSDT.

An analytical investigation on the nonlinear response of doubly curved panels constructed from homogeneous face sheets and carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) core and subjected to external pressure in thermal environments is presented in this paper. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are reinforced into the core layer through uniform or functionally graded distributions.

In this paper, the finite element models of non-corroded and corroded SFRC beams have been constructed and verified regarding load-displacement curves, crack patterns, and failure modes. Finally, a parametric study also was performed to assess the effect of essential design parameters on the shear strength of SFRC beams under corrosion attacks.

A case study is presented when the car is parked at a landing level where the fundamental natural frequencies of the car, suspension and compensating rope system coincide with one of the natural frequencies of the high-rise building. The results show a range of nonlinear dynamic interactions between the components of the elevator system that play a significant role in the operation of the entire installation.

This study developed a set of parameters that can be used to normalize the modulus reduction and damping curves to be stressindependent. The proposed formulations for the stress-independent parameters were implemented in the finite element code SRAP and validated through producing shear modulus reduction and damping curves that match the existed ones.

Small-signal modeling is a common analysis technique in electronics engineering which is used to approximate the behavior of electronic circuits containing nonlinear devices with linear equations. It is applicable to electronic circuits in which the AC signals, the time-varying currents and voltages in the circuit, have a small magnitude compared to the DC bias currents and voltages.

The characteristics of photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with various air hole diameters infiltrated with alcoholic liquids such as ethanol, methanol, propanol and butanol are numerically investigated. Based on the numerical results, we have analyzed and compared in detail the characteristics of these fibers including effective refractive index, effective mode area, dispersion and confinement loss for two sets of parameters {d,Λ} = {1 µm,5 µm} and {1.42 µm, 3.26 µm}, with d the air hole diameter and Λ the lattice constant, respectively.

The fitting curves demonstrate that the Hybrid model produces closer trend so better describing the actual data. Via our study with Vietnam Index, it is confirmed that the characteristics of ARIMA model are more suitable for linear time series while ANN model is good to work with nonlinear time series. The Hybrid model takes into account both of these features, so it could be employed in case of more generalized time series. As the financial market is increasingly complex, the time series corresponding to stock indexes naturally consist of linear and non-linear components.

Education is among the basic human needs and one of the components of well being in the modern world. Equal distribution of education is of great interest in public policy analysis. Spending in education represents substantial share of government revenue. The inequality in educational distribution represents large welfare loss. The purposes of this article are three folds. First, it calculates average years of schooling. Second, it estimates educational inequality in terms of standard deviation of schooling.

The fundamental frequency of the electric cabinet is sensitive because of many attached devices. To bypass this complex problem, the average spectral acceleration ðSaÞ in the range of period that cover the first mode period is chosen as an intensity measure on the fragility function. The nonlinear time history analyses for cabinet are conducted using a suite of 40 ground motions. The obtained curves with different approaches are compared, and the variability of risk assessment is evaluated for restrained and anchored models.
