  • An Interior-point algorithm with a line-search globalization is proposed for solving the general nonlinear programming problem. At each iteration, the search direction is obtained as a resultant of two orthogonal vectors. They are obtained by solving two square linear systems. An upper-triangular linear system is solved to obtain the Lagrange multiplier vector. The three systems that must be solved each iteration are reduced systems obtained using the projected Hessian technique. This fits well for large-scale problems.

  • Genome-scale models of metabolism and macromolecular expression (ME) significantly expand the scope and predictive capabilities of constraint-based modeling. ME models present considerable computational challenges: they are much (> 30 times) larger than corresponding metabolic reconstructions (M models), are multiscale, and growth maximization is a nonlinear programming (NLP) problem, mainly due to macromolecule dilution constraints.

  • We consider a general class of nonlinear constrained optimization problems, where derivatives of the objective function and constraints are unavailable. This property of problems can often impede the performance of optimization algorithms. Most algorithms usually determine a quasi-Newton direction and then use line search techniques.

  • A class of multiobjective fractional programming problems (MFP) is considered where the involved functions are locally Lipschitz. In order to deduce our main results, we introduce the definition of (p,r) − ρ − (η,θ) - invex class about the Clarke generalized gradient. Under the above invexity assumption, sufficient conditions for optimality are given. Finally, three types of dual problems corresponding to (MFP) are formulated, and appropriate dual theorems are proved.
