  • In this paper, the free vibration of a bi-directional functionally graded (2D-FG) nanobeams is investigated by the finite element method. Nanobeams are made of two kinds of porous materials. The material properties of 2D-FG nanobeams are assumed to vary in both axial and thickness directions according to a power law . Based on Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory, the governing equations of motion are derived.

  • The properties of Rayleigh-type surface wave in a linear, homogeneous and transversely isotropic nonlocal micropolar piezoelectric solid half-space are explored. Dispersion relations for Rayleigh-type surface wave are derived for both charge free and electrically shorted cases.

  • A lot of previous works of the mathematicans have been contributed to investigating the free boundary problem to parabolic equations. Especially, classical one-phase Stefan problems have many models and their application in different areas.

  • The brittle fracture mode by cleavage is accounted for by Ritchie–Knott–Rice's deterministic maximum principal stress criterion (Ritchie et al., 1973). The wellknown problem of mesh dependence associated with softening material behavior is remedied by using an integral type nonlocal formulation similar to that presented in Tvergaard and Needleman (1995).

  • In this paper, we study the stochastic behavior of some lattice beams, called Hencky bar-chain model and their non-local continuous beam approximations. Hencky bar-chain model is a beam lattice composed of rigid segments, connected by some homogeneous rotational elastic links.

  • The dissertation has five chapters and a list of references. The chapters concentrate on the following issues: In Chapter 1, we recall some classical results of the problem and some basic concepts from variational analysis and nonsmooth analysis. In Chapter 2, we investigate some new models of nonlinear nonlocal regularity; Chapter 3 is devoted to the study of metric perturbation of Milyutin-type regularity on a fixed set under composition of a set-valued mapping and a Lipschitz single-valued mapping;...

  • The nonlinear free vibration of embedded nanotubes under longitudinal magnetic field is studied in this paper. The governing equation for the nanotube is formulated by employing Euler–Bernoulli beam model and the nonlocal strain gradient theory. The analytical expression of the nonlinear frequency of the nanotube is obtained by using Galerkin method and the equivalent linearization method with the weighted averaging value. The accuracy of the obtained solution has been verified by comparison with the published solutions and the exact solution.

  • Motivated by the fact that the fractional Laplacean generates a wider choice of the interpolation curves than the Laplacean or bi-Laplacean, we propose a new non-local partial differential equation inspired by the Cahn-Hilliard model for recovering damaged parts of an image. We also note that our model is linear and that the computational costs are lower than those for the standard Cahn-Hilliard equation, while the inpainting results remain of high quality.

  • Fractional calculus (FC) is widely used in many interdisciplinary branches of science due to its effectiveness in describing and investigating complicated phenomena. In this work, nonlinear dynamics for a new physical model using nonlocal fractional differential operator with singular kernel is introduced. New Routh-Hurwitz stability conditions are derived for the fractional case as the order lies in [0,2). The new and basic Routh-Hurwitz conditions are applied to the commensurate case. The local stability of the incommensurate orders is also discussed.

  • This paper is concerned with the existence of monotone traveling wavefronts in a single species model with nonlocal diffusion and age-structure. We first apply upper and lower solution technique to prove the result if the wave speed is larger than a threshold depending only on the basic parameters.

  • In this paper we construct two families of nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) schemes preserving the essential properties of a computer virus propagation model, such as positivity, boundedness and stability. The first family of NSFD schemes is constructed based on the nonlocal discretization and has first order of accuracy, while the second one is based on the combination of a classical Runge-Kutta method and selection of a nonstandard denominator function and it is of fourth order of accuracy.

  • Italian object clitics can be involved in nonlocal dependencies in the sense that they m u s t / m a y appear on a verbal head of which they are not an argument. Two cases where this situation arises will be discussed: the first is due to the presence of an auxiliary verb and the second is triggered by the presence of a certain class of verbs that allows clitic climbing.

  • This paper presents a novel method of generating and applying hierarchical, dynamic topic-based language models. It proposes and evaluates new cluster generation, hierarchical smoothing and adaptive topic-probability estimation techniques. These combined models help capture long-distance lexical dependencies. °Experiments on the Broadcast News corpus show significant improvement in perplexity (10.5% overall and 33.5% on target vocabulary).

  • In this paper, we propose a novel discriminative language model, which can be applied quite generally. Compared to the well known N-gram language models, discriminative language models can achieve more accurate discrimination because they can employ overlapping features and nonlocal information. However, discriminative language models have been used only for re-ranking in specific applications because negative examples are not available.
