This study investigates the influence of UVB rays (wavelength from 290 - 320nm) on the formation of cancerous tissues and also shows the differences between abnormal and normal tissue.

This study aimed to investigate the antitumor-promoting effects of total ethanolic extract from Perilla leaf (PLE) in a two-stage chemical carcinogenesis protocol in mice. Quantitative analysis active compounds in PLE were performed by thin layer chromatography with normal phase of silica gel F254 and HPLC-PDA with reversed phase of C18 column at UV 300 nm. The cutaneous tumors were initiated by a single application by 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) on the dorsal shaved skin, then promoted by repeated applications of croton oil during 20 weeks.

Chromobacterium violaceum is a rare pathogen that causes potentially fatal infections in human beings. It is a normal inhabitant of soil and stagnant water of the tropical and subtropical areas. Chromobacterium violaceum infection usually occurs after broken skin exposed to contaminated soil or water. The organism is mostly resistant to pencillins and cephalosporins and sensitive to fluoroquinolones and aminoglycosides. Skin infections are most common in dogs, especially pugs are more prone due to its folded skin nature. A Pug of 3 years age weighing around 10 kgwas brought to the Veterinary Clinical Complex, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad with the complaint of alopecia, pruritus, decrease in the appetite and erythematous lesions all over the body. Detailed clinical examination revealed mild increase in temperature (102.50 F) and normal heart rate, pulse and respirations. Trichosporon spp. are ubiquitous fungi and form normal flora on skin and gastrointestinal tract of humans. There are at least nine Trichosporon species that are potentially pathogenic to humans. A 7 years old female Labrador dog was presented with the history of alopecia with pruritis and inappetance for the past three months. Physical examination revealed bilateral alopecia with hyperpigmentation of skin. Thyroid function tests revealed decrease in T3 and T4 and increase in TSH values and thus indicating hypothyroidism. Haematological and other biochemical parameters were found be within normal limits except leukocytosis.
