Normal strain

Although right ventricular strain indices obtained from speckle-tracking echocardiography have prognostic value in cardiovascular diseases, normal reference values remain unclear and vary between different manufacturers and software. This study aims to determine the reference values of the two strain indices, RVFWLS and RVGLS, and to explore their relationship with age and gender.

Induction of a lacZ reporter gene with any one of the NGG codons at position +2 to +5 does not influence growth of a normal strain, but growth of a strain with a defective peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase (Pth) enzyme is inhibited.

Abnormal forms of prion protein (PrP Sc ) accumulate via structural conver-sion of normal PrP (PrP C ) in the progression of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy. Under cell-free conditions, the process can be efficiently replicated usingin vitro PrP Sc amplification methods, including protein mis-folding cyclic amplification.
