This work aims to investigate the mechanism of Pd nucleation and growth onto glassy carbon electrode from ChCl/urea/palladium mixture at room temperature using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) techniques. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to examine the crystalline structure, morphology and compositions of deposited Pd samples.

This paper presents a methodology for studying nucleation and growth mechanisms of metals onto a glassy carbon electrode in a deep eutectic solvent (DES), a mixture of choline chloride and urea at a molar ratio of 1:2. Characteristics and composition of Co(II) complexes formed with the DES were evaluated by means of UV-vis measurements, which confirmed the good stability of these species at room temperature.

Leavening agents cause expansion of doughs and batters by the release of gases within food mixtures, producing baked products with porous structure. Leavening agents are used in food products to help create structure and texture through gas expansion because of a chemical reaction or as the nucleation seed for gas formation. Leavening can be achieved by various methods including yeast fermentation, by mechanical incorporation of air through mixing and creaming, formation of water vapour during baking and creation of carbon dioxide and/or ammonia by chemical leavens.

Unperturbed tumor growth kinetics is one of the more studied cancer topics; however, it is poorly understood. Mathematical modeling is a useful tool to elucidate new mechanisms involved in tumor growth kinetics, which can be relevant to understand cancer genesis and select the most suitable treatment.

The FeB nanoparticle (NP) consisting of 5000 particles (4500 Fe atoms and 500 B atoms) has been investigated by means of molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. When the amorphous FeB nanoparticle is annealed at temperature of 900 K for a long time, it is crystallized into bcc crystalline structure. The simulation shows that the sample undergoes crystallization via the nucleation mechanism.

This result was confirmed via the molecular simulation, in which the functional groups of molecule on various surfaces of α-form crystal were different, so the degree of lattice matching (E) between the α-form substrate surfaces and β-form molecule aggregate was distinguished and ordered as (001) > (011) > (111), meaning that the nucleation of heterogeneous β-form was more facilitated on the (001) and (011) surfaces compared to that on the (111) surface of α-form crystal.

Electrodeposition kinetics of Co thin film were investigated and magnetic coercivity of the deposited films were studied using potentiostatic technique and magnetic hyteresis loop measurements. Results showed that the nucleation mechanism of the electrodeposition process changed from instantaneous mode to progressive mode when potential was changed from –0.7 V to –0.8 V. The magnetic coercivity Hc increases with deposition time and the film with Hc < 15 Oe can be obtained with deposition time t < 5 s.

A yeast model was generated to study the mechanisms and phenotypical repercussions of expression of a-synuclein as well as the coexpression of protein tau. The data show that aggregation ofa-synuclein is a nucleation– elongation process initiated at the plasma membrane. Aggregation is con-sistently enhanced by dimethyl sulfoxide, which is known to increase the level of phospholipids and membranes in yeast cells.

The present text introduces the use of fluidised bed processing in the context of wet granulation and coating. The text also covers introductory information about the mechanical properties of dry granules. This is a scientific field rarely taught at universities or engineering schools around the world although it has enormous and ever increasing relevance to the chemical and biochemical industries. Often students are left with nothing but qualitative tendencies and hands-on experience as no textbook yet covers all relevant subjects treated in this text....

The present text concerns the micro-level (particle-level) perspective on the different stages of the granulation process. A range of the newest and advanced quantitative models is presented hereby introducing recent advances in wetting and nucleation modelling, and theory describing granule growth behaviour. The different bonding mechanisms and the strength of liquid bonded particles are emphasised and recent advances in simulation of wet granule breakage is reviewed.

Nucleate pool boiling is a daily phenomenon transferring effectively high heat flux. It is, however, a very complex and illusive process because of the interrelation of numerous factors and effects as the nucleate process, the growth of the bubbles, the interaction between the heater’s surface with liquid and vapor, the evaporation process at the liquidvapor interface, and the transport process of vapour and hot liquid away from the heater’s surface.
