  • In this study, we propose to build an equivalent 2D model to replace the 3D model of corrugated composite sheets, by the method of homogenization, to study the nonlinear mechanical behavior of corrugated core composite sheets. This model helps to significantly reduce the calculation time as well as the model building time. The model homogeneity is confirmed by comparing the numerical simulation results of the 2D model and the 3D model.

  • We study the dynamics of a double-well BEC system subjected to oscillating dissipation. The macroscopic model is described within the mean-field approximation while the noise effect due to large reservoir fluctuation has been averaged out to zero. We chose a simple dissipative memory kernel to produce a time-dependent oscillating dissipation. Our numerically calculated phase-space portraits and Lyapunov exponents show an enhanced route to chaos as one increases the driving dissipation amplitude.

  • Inherited susceptibility to common, complex diseases may be caused by rare, pathogenic variants (“monogenic”) or by the cumulative effect of numerous common variants (“polygenic”). Comprehensive genome interpretation should enable assessment for both monogenic and polygenic components of inherited risk.

  • Ebook "Full-3D seismic waveform inversion: Theory, software and practice" introduces a methodology for solving the seismic inverse problem using purely numerical solutions built on 3D wave equations and which is free of the approximations or simplifications that are common in classical seismic inversion methodologies and therefore applicable to arbitrary 3D geological media and seismic source models. Source codes provided allow readers to experiment with the calculations demonstrated and also explore their own applications.

  • In this work, we investigated the optical absorption in a quasi-one-dimensional system subjected to an external electromagnetic wave. The optical absorption coefficient was calculated by using the perturbation theory taking account of the effect of the electron - impurity interaction. The numerical result for the GaAs/AlAs cylindrical semiconductor quantum wire showed the presence of the resonant absorption peaks.

  • This article presents the pseudospectral method to calculate numerical solutions for nonlinear Duffing differential equations on the interval [–1, 1]. This method is based on the differential matrix using the Chebyshev Gauss – Lobatto points. To find numerical solutions of the nonlinear Duffing differential equations, we have built an iterative procedure. The software is used in calculating in this study is Mathematica 10.4. The obtained results show that this method has high accuracy with very small errors.
