  • This article presents two methods to determine pressing forces to the M1 copper plate. The first approach employs the upper-bound method, and the second method combines numerical simulation with a central composite design. The upper-bound method uses physical analysis to determine the deformation zone and establish the division of the rigid block model. The findings were identical to the slip-line solution method.

  • In this study, we propose to build an equivalent 2D model to replace the 3D model of corrugated composite sheets, by the method of homogenization, to study the nonlinear mechanical behavior of corrugated core composite sheets. This model helps to significantly reduce the calculation time as well as the model building time. The model homogeneity is confirmed by comparing the numerical simulation results of the 2D model and the 3D model.

  • In this work, a shear locking treatment for thin First-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) plates based on the n-node discrete shear gap is introduced to analyze the static behavior of the bending plate. The FSDT is a simple formulation suitable for relatively thick plates, and therefore, when thin plates are considered, the well-known shear locking issue may occur and cause errors in the numerical result.

  • The objective of the present study is to enhance the hovering efficiency of a UAV helicopter with a spherical fuselage under the effects of the fuselage size (Rf/R) and the distance between the fuselage and rotor (Hm/R), where R is the rotor radius. The RANS method combined with the k-ε turbulent model is used to model the airflow through the helicopter. The numerical model mentioned was well validated by comparing it with the results obtained in the literature.

  • This paper describes an investigation of fluid flow through two tandem circular cylinders using Lattice-Boltzmann Method in direct numerical simulation. The diameter ratio of two circular cylinders, D1/D2 varies from 0.5 to 1.5, and spacing ratio (L/D2) varies from 1.5 to 10, whereas the Reynolds number of 100 is considered. The numerical model is well validated by comparing the results with those obtained in the literature.

  • The paper "Dynamic response analysis of nanobeams resting on elastic foundations" uses the finite element method to study the dynamic response of nanobeams resting on an elastic foundation, taking into account the flexoelectricity effect. Timoshenko's first-order shear deformation theory is used to derive the formulations of the beam's forced vibration equation. The proposed theory and mechanical model are verified by comparing the numerical results of this work with those of the published data.

  • This paper presents an extension of the Proportional Topology Optimization (PTO) with virtual elements for multi-material problems with mass and cost constraints. In particular, the linear virtual element method (VEM) is constructed on unstructured polygonal meshes. The linear VEM is desirable in the sense that numerical integration is not explicitly required, significantly reducing the computational effort.
