Nutrient availability status
-
Water availability and nutrient-status of soils play crucial roles in seedling establishment and plant survival in coal-spoiled areas worldwide. Restoration of spoils pertains to the application of proper doses of nutrients and water, and selection of particular plant species for efficient revegetation.

The present study confirms the nutrients status in four grape growing regions of Maharashtra was worked out in the investigation. The available nutrient content was divided in three groups, low, optimum and high. It was revealed from the study that most of the soils are alkaline in reaction in all the four regions.

The Knowledge of spatial-variability is critical for site specific nutrient management in soil fertility. Soil sample (149) were gotten from surface from 10 selected sites for preparing precise digital maps using point, line and polygon tools of the GIS (TNTmips 2010) software. Soil spatial variability typically defines variation in soil properties in surface soil such as fertility, pH, EC, soil organic carbon (OC), free CaCO3, mineralizable N,P2O5, K2O and S.

A field experiment was conducted at Research farm of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, in silty clay loam soil to study the LCC based N management on yield, nutrient uptake and soil available status in two rice genotypes (Jhelum and SR-2) under irrigated conditions. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications.

The field experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture, Shivamogga during kharif 2015-2016. The total quantity of P and plant-available P often differ greatly fraction in acidic soils. Assessing available P is fundamental aspect to managing P in many of these soils. The objectives of this study were to effect of phosphorus levels through integrated nutrient management (INM) packages on status of phosphorus in soil under groundnut crop.

A study was conducted from Mandal block in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan for assess the fertility status of cultivated land soils near and far away from industries area. Soil samples were taken from cultivated fields of 52 villages (0-15 cm depth) and analyzed for their physico-chemical properties to prepare the map on the basis of nutrient status in the soil. The pH of soil samples were observed from neutral, slightly alkaline to strongly alkaline.

Soil fertility evaluation of an area is an important aspect in context of sustainable agriculture production. The macro nutrients govern the fertility of soils and control the growth and yields of crops. In the present investigation Narayanpur block was selected in the district Mirzapur of Uttar Pradesh and studied the available macronutrient status and their relationship with physico-chemical properties. Mirzapur district have different cropping systems and irrigated by Ganga canal and Tube well tributaries.

An adequate boron amendment ensures not only ample fruit set, but guarantees optimum fruit yield with excellent quality in terms of juice content, ratio between total soluble solids and acidity, and fruit peel colour (Srivastava and Singh 2005). Very little information is available on effect of zinc and boron under agro-climatic conditions of Uttarakhand and no work so far has been done under tarai conditions with the cultivar Pant Prabhat. Therefore, it has become imperative to find out influence of zinc and boron on leaf nutrient status of guava.

Field experiments were conducted during 2010-12 at Regional Research Station, Virudhachalam to find out the residual effect of fly ash, farm yard manure and fertilizers applied to groundnut on growth parameters, nutrient uptake, yield of sesame and post-harvest soil available nutrients. The Neyveli Lignite Corporation fly ash contained higher amount of Ca, Mg, S and Si, moderate amount of P, K and B. Application of fly ash @ 40 t/ha significantly increased growth parameters, yield attributes, seed yield and harvest index of sesame.

The present study revealed that pH of pear orchard soils increased with decrease in altitude while as organic carbon decreased with decrease in altitude. The textural class of soils ranged between clay loam to silt clay loam with normal electrical conductivity. The available nitrogen status was low to medium, whereas, available phosphorus status was medium to high and available potassium status was high.

Universal extractant is a term used to designate reagents or procedures to extract several elements or ions to assess soil fertility status or levels of toxicity. The extraction procedure should be rapid, reproducible, inexpensive, adaptable to soils from different regions, and extract the labile forms of nutrients which might be potentially available to plants. Most of the extractants in use are fall short of these requirements.

The changes in enzyme activities, microbial diversity and nutrients availability in soil under long term fertilization (30 years) with inorganic fertilizers alone or in combination with organics/amendments were investigated in the present study. The experiment consisted of eleven treatments with four replications with the finger millet-maize cropping sequence. Significantly higher biomass C (276.53µg/g) and biomass N (27.20 µg/g) contents were recorded with 100 % NPK+FYM+lime and 100 % NPK+FYM application respectively.
