These beneficial compounds can be influenced by several key factors including environmental conditions (light, temperature, humidity, atmospheric CO2). Contrary to the conventional agricultural system, hydroponic relies on the manipulation of nutrients, which according to different authors allows having produces with high accumulation of some beneficial nutrients (Sgherri et al., 2010; Buchanan and Omaye, 2013) (Table 1).

Banana is a climacteric fruit, during post-harvest handling and commercialization, huge quantities of this fruit is lost. Majority of harvested fruit is thus wasted when it reaches central collection station because of less appealing characteristics. Hence, as a solution to minimize this issue, nutrient-rich product was formulated from major underutilized byproducts of banana, i.e., blossom. Banana blossom of Nendran variety was procured from the local market, processed and made into powder. Banana Blossom Powder (BBP) was incorporated in laddu at various concentrations.

This study was conducted at the Maize Research Institute of Vietnam using 24 maize hybrids, identified as STM1 to STM24, at five different salt concentrations, which were 0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 mM NaCl. After seven days of germination at room temperature, seedlings were transplanted to nutrient-rich solutions salinized with salt. 17 day-old seedlings were then harvested to calculate their growth parameters of the day to seedlings fully wilt and degradation, root and shoot length, seedling dry matter production, and content.
