Nutrient uptake by soybean

Biochar is a carbon rich substance obtained from thermal decomposition plant biomass through the process of pyrolysis. The special characteristics of the biochar are its effectiveness in retaining most of the nutrients and maintaining them available to plants. The present field experiment was therefore conducted to investigate the effect of biochar application on nutrients concentration and uptake by soybean in acidic soils. Biochar produced from coconut shell was applied at the rates of 5, 7.5 and 10 t ha-1with two rates of recommended lime (100 and 50%).

The present investigation was carried out with the objectives to evaluate the efficacy of thirteen short listed Arthrobacter isolates under field conditions with special reference to germination, photosynthetic activity, yield, nodulation characters and nutrient uptake by soybean. Field evaluation was done during kharif 2015-16 at Research Field of Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, JNKVV, Jabalpur, M.P. Outcome of the experimental findings revealed that most of the isolates showed their role for early seed germination at 4th and 6th days after sowing (DAS).

Nutrient uptake by crop mainly depends on the dynamics of biomass accumulation during crop growing season. So a field investigation was carried out during kharif 2015-16 at Agricultural Research Institute, Professor Jayashanar telangana state Agricultural University Rajendranagar, Hyderabad with an object to find out the optimum sowing date and plant density.

Plant growth promoting rhizo-bacteria (PGPR) affect plant growth by producing and releasing secondary metabolites (plant growth regulators/phytohormones/biologically active substances), facilitating the availability and uptake of certain nutrients from the root environment and inhibiting plant pathogenic organisms in the rhizosphere. At the same time, plants produce root exudates containing e.g. sugars, amino acids, organic acids, vitamins, enzymes and organic or inorganic ions.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of integrated application of inorganic fertilizer (NPK) and farmyard manure (FYM) on soybean grain nutrient uptake and yield. We performed field experiments with treatments including 100% NPK, 150% NPK, 100% NPK+FYM and control (without fertilizer), and soil properties and plant parameters assessed. Greater effects on soil electric conductivity (EC), soil organic carbon (SOC), Soil N were recorded with treatments.

A field experiment was carried out on “Nutrient content and uptake of soybean as influenced by liquid biofertilizers (Bradyrhizobium and PSB)”. It was conducted in Kharif season during the year 2013-14 at the research farm of Oil Seed Research Station, Latur, Maharashtra, in factorial randomized block design with three replications and variety MAUS-81 as a test crop along with 16 treatment combination containing four levels of liquid Bradyrhizobium (0ml, 5ml, 10ml, and 15ml) and four levels of liquid PSB (0ml, 5ml, 10ml, and 15ml). Nutrients uptake viz.

Field experiments were conducted at Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Jhabua (RVSKVV, Gwalior) during kharif 2013, 2014 and 2015 to study the effect of organic, inorganic manures and biofertilizers on growth, yield and nutrient uptake by soybean. Results revealed that application of 50% RDF (10:30:20 kg NPK/ha) + 50% vermicompost (2.5 t/ha) recorded significantly higher growth characters viz., plant height (55.88 cm), number of branches (4.72), dry matter production (19.21 g/plant), no. of nodules (19.21/plant) and dry weight of nodules (65.43 mg/plant).
