A 14 year old girl diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and esophageal varices underwent an assessment of her nutritional status using SGA, BAZ (Body Mass Index for age), and MUAC (Middle Upper Arm Circumference). Prior to transplantation, her SGA score was categorized as C, her BAZ was -1.63 standard deviations, and her MUAC measured 18.5cm.

A controlled intervention study to evaluate the effect of formula supplementation on nutritional status and health of preschool children aged 36- 59 months was completed in Ninh Binh province in August 2023 with 110 subjects. The intervention group (55 subjects) used formula supplementation twice daily for 2 months and the control group (55 subjects) used a regular diet.
