This study assessesed the wind energy potential in the Bien Dong Sea by using the CrossCalibrated Multi-Platform (CCMP) satellite wind data from 1991 to 2020. The results showed that the wind energy potential at 10 m height above ground is not high in the offshore areas with annual mean wind speeds ranging from 5 to 8 m/s.

In this study, the proposed system, its control scheme and the power management were modelled in the MATLAB/Simulink environment, with simulations carried out to test their performance under dynamic loading conditions. Simulation results show that the proposed floating hybrid power system is capable of supplying dynamic loads without triggering blackouts.

Based on such analysis, additional issues should be considered while preparing future decommissioning plans and updating relevant laws in Vietnam. This paper focuses on numerical investigations and derived formulation to evaluate the residual strength of tension leg platforms (TLPs) with the local denting damage under axial compression loading. The damage generation scenarios in this research are represented the collision accidents of offshore stiffened cylinders TLPs with supply ships or floating subjects. The finite element model is performed using a commercial software package ABAQUS, which has been validated against the experiments from the authors and other researchers.

The shortage of reliable datasets and resource assessments, resource variations, and lack of marine planning are the technical challenges facing offshore wind energy development in Vietnam. This pioneering paper comprehensively addresses these challenges by first screening available datasets to select crosscalibrated multi-platform (CCMP) data and validating them with measurements. The resource is divided into four zones of 100 NM-width from the coastline. The wind energy density (WED) and capacity factor (CF) are calculated using an 8 MW reference turbine.

To address the lack of insights into the engagement of tertiary students to manage knowledge at a course level, a knowledge management approach is proposed to allow students to interact with lecturers inside and outside a large lecture hall to create, disseminate, use and evaluate knowledge. The proposed approach was applied to an undergraduate business computing related course conducted at the offshore campus of an Australian university in the third trimester of 2012. The proposed KM approach was evaluated using quantitative analysis.

Widespread thermal anomalies in 1997–1998, due primarily to regional effects of the El Nin˜ o–Southern Oscillation and possibly augmented by global warming, caused severe coral bleaching worldwide. Corals in all habitats alongthe Belizean barrier reef bleached as a result of elevated sea temperatures in the summer and fall of 1998, and in fore-reef habitats of the outer barrier reef and offshore platforms they showed signs of recovery in 1999. In contrast, coral populations on reefs in the central shelf lagoon died off catastrophically.
