  • Blocks 10 and 11.1 are located at the western boundary of the Nam Con Son basin, offshore southern Vietnam. Hydrocarbon shows have been encountered in many wells as the Gau Chua (GC), Ca Cho (CC), Gau Ngua (GN), Phi Ma (PM), Than Ma (TM), etc. In the CC and GNfields, the oil and gas were discovered in Miocene sandstone reservoirs and in fractured granite basement. The Cau and Dua formations are active source rocks in this area.

  • Since 2005, 10 seismic monitoring stations have been installed in the southern part of Vietnam. These stations can detail the earthquakes in the region and adjacent areas. In the past, there was an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 in the offshore South-Central Part related to the Hon Tro eruption, the largest observed earthquake magnitude in the 20th century.

  • This present study carried out sample collections along the coast of Southern Viet Nam, including the coast sites, offshore islands, and Spratly (Truong Sa) islands. External morphological and anatomical characteristics of two dominant species, Halimeda macroloba and H. opuntia, were caparisoned. The genetic marker tufA was applied to find the haplotype diversity and network among Vietnamese and worldwide populations.

  • This paper uses econometrics models to estimate factors affecting the offshore fishing households’ incomes in the Southern Central Coast of Vietnam. We estimate two basic models: one with total income as the dependent variable and the other with per capita income as the dependent variable. Since heteroscedasticity is in present, the study employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimations with Robust Standard Errors (OLSR).

  • The shortage of reliable datasets and resource assessments, resource variations, and lack of marine planning are the technical challenges facing offshore wind energy development in Vietnam. This pioneering paper comprehensively addresses these challenges by first screening available datasets to select crosscalibrated multi-platform (CCMP) data and validating them with measurements. The resource is divided into four zones of 100 NM-width from the coastline. The wind energy density (WED) and capacity factor (CF) are calculated using an 8 MW reference turbine.

  • Griffin’s Leaf-nosed bat (Hipposideros griffini) is one of the largest species of the family Hipposiderodae. In the field, it is recognisable from other hipposiderid species of Vietnam by body size, noseleaf structure, and echolocation frequency. Prior to this study, Hipposideros griffini was only known from two national parks (Cat Ba and Chu Mom Ray) in Vietnam. This paper provides new data recorded from Cat Tien national park, Southern Vietnam, indicating a more extensive distribution of Hipposideros griffini.
