In this study an optimal weather routing model (OWR) considers the meteorological and oceanographic information, ship’s characteristics combined with adaptive Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm will be proposed and applied for ship’ navigation. The simulation results will be presented to show the effectiveness as well as the reliability of this model. The OWR will make it possible for safe navigation, effective operation, energy efficiency and reduce emission from vessel.

In the paper, the Station Blackout accident accompanied with IVR implementation has been analyzed for VVER1000/V320 reactor by using MELCOR code 1.8.6. Four SBO scenarios have been proposed for the study, among, two SBO scenarios with long-term high pressure showed that the failure of lower head occurred early due to high pressure and high temperature causing creep-rupture, and the external cooling only delayed the failure of lower vessel.

PWSCC at Alloy 600 CRDM nozzles has caused primary coolant leakage in operating PWRs. We have used Deep Hole Drilling to characterise residual stresses in a PWR vessel head.

In this study, the performance and exhaust emissions of the marine main engine (ME) of a large cargo vessel operating on the east coast of Australia by numerical thermodynamic simulation were investigated. The simulation were validated using on-board measurements of the ME conducted in October and November 2015 on a large cargo ship cruising between Ports of Brisbane, Gladstone and Newcastle.

Marine fisheries of India has been witnessed with substantial increase of fishing effort and fishing efficiency during the last five decades which resulted in overexploitation of fish stocks together with the increase of fossil fuel burning and CO2 emission into the atmosphere. The present study covered three important fishing harbours of Kerala to reveal an estimation of CO2 footprint (considering the emission of CO2 only during the fishing operation) by the mechanised fishing trawlers which showed a considerable higher value than the previous studies.

Alexandria port is the main Egyptian port at the Mediterranean Sea. It is connected to the Nile River through Nubaria canal, which is a main irrigation canal. The canal was designed to irrigate eight hundred thousand acres of agricultural lands, along its course which extends 100 km. The canal has three barrages and four locks to control the flow and allow light navigation by some small barges. Recently, it was decided to improve the locks located on the canal. More than 40 million US$ was invested in these projects.

The evaluation of feasibility, safety, and outcomes of single port laparoscopic colectomy (SPLC) for colonic cancer. Prospective study of 114 patients with colonic cancer (84 right side, 17 left side, and 13 sigmoid colon) who underwent SPLC between October 2010 and October 2016 in Hue Central Hospital. Results: Mean age of patients was 56.1±15.2 (25-87 years), male/female ratio was 70/44. Mean BMI was 23.5±2.2 kg/m2 . Procedures included 84 right hemi-colectomies (73.7%), 17 left hemi-colectomies (14.9%), and 13 sigmoidectomies (11.4%).

The most important ageing effect on the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) is radiation embrittlement, which is mainly caused by fast neutrons during operation lifetime of nuclear reactors. The aim of this study was to investigate the DPA (displacement per atom) rate, an important parameter describing radiation damage to the RPV, and identify the position of the maximum DPA rate in the RPV of the VVER-1000/V320 reactor using the Monte Carlo code MCNP5.

Controlling and reduction of the bleeding are one of the key factors in liver resection, to ensure a safe resection, and to reduce post-operative complications, especially post-operative liver failure. The precise prediction of radiation embrittlement of aged reactor pressure vessels (RPVs) is a prerequisite for the long-term operation of nuclear power plants beyond their original design life. The expiration of the operation licenses for Korean reactors the RPVs of which are made from SA533B-1 plates and welds is imminent. Korean regulatory rules have adopted the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission's transition temperature shift (TTS) models to the prediction of the embrittlement of Korean reactor pressure vessels.
