The Adsorption – desorption is considered as one of the most promising VOCs treatment technologies due to its cheap operational cost and low energy consumption. However, there are a huge amount of adsorbed VOCs released in desorption process. That is the reason why this study focused on the combination of adsorption-desorption with catalytic oxidation to treat completely VOCs as toluene.

An investigation into the treatment efficiency of real piggery wastewater of a benchscale aerobic membrane bioreactor was performed. The experiments were aimed to evaluate the effects of hydraulic retention time and activated sludge concentration. The piggery wastewater having high chemical oxygen demand, ammonium and total phosphorus concentrations (about 4200 mg/l, 320 mg/L and 48 mg/L, respectively) was employed.

The bioflocculation efficiency was depended on the pH, carbon sources, the initial algae concentrations, bacteria strains, and the inital bioflocculant-producing bacteria concentrations. The temperature lightly affected the bioflocculation, no noticeable behavioral or activity changes were observed in mice that were orally administrated with four bacterial strains, and no treatment-related illness or death occurred after 72 hours.

The bidirectional Glenn (BDG) shunt operation serves as temporary treatment of single-ventricle physiology before the eventual Fontan procedure. Some cases can be performed without the support of a cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machine. In this study, we present the surgical outcomes of off-pump BDG operations with the use of temporary veno-atrial shunt to decompress the superior vena cava (SVC) during clamping.
