Numerical investigation of optical properties in carbon tetrachloride-filled photonic crystal fibers
In this work, we design circular lattice photonic crystal fibers using Lumerical Mode Solution software, its hollow core filled with carbon tetrachloride. Optical properties including effective refractive index, chromatic dispersion, nonlinearity, and fiber loss were investigated numerically in detail based on solving Maxwell's wave equations.

This paper presents a new design of Ge20Sb5Se75 large-solid-core- square lattice photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with the first ring of air hole near the core removed. Using the full vector finite element method for anisotropic perfectly matched layers, we numerically examine the dispersion characteristics of the PCF as a function of the wavelength in the mid-infrared range.

This study proposes a photonic crystal fiber made of fused silica glass, with the core infiltrated with chloroform as a new source of supercontinuum (SC) spectrum. We numerically study the guiding properties of the fiber structure in terms of characteristic dispersion and mode area of the fundamental mode.

In recent years, the application of multi-wavelength low-level laser therapy for some acute and chronic diseases and improving the quality of treatment has brought a lot of positive achievements in medicine. It is increasingly popular in both experimental and clinical trials. It is highly demanded to design and develop phototherapy laser devices for specific applications.

The characteristics of photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with various air hole diameters infiltrated with alcoholic liquids such as ethanol, methanol, propanol and butanol are numerically investigated. Based on the numerical results, we have analyzed and compared in detail the characteristics of these fibers including effective refractive index, effective mode area, dispersion and confinement loss for two sets of parameters {d,Λ} = {1 µm,5 µm} and {1.42 µm, 3.26 µm}, with d the air hole diameter and Λ the lattice constant, respectively.

In this paper, we report a numerical calculation of the influence of structural parameters on the supercontinuum generation of photonic crystal fibers. A photonic crystal fiber based on the fused silica glass, eight rings of air holes ordered in a hexagonal lattice, is proposed. Guiding properties in terms of dispersion and confinement loss of the fundamental mode are also studied numerically. As a result, the broadband width of the supercontinuum spectrum will increase when the lattice pitch decreases or the diameter of air hole in the cladding increases.

We consider a model of a passively mode-locking fiber ring laser bult using a saturable absorber and a chirped fiber Bragg grating to balance dispersion and nonlinearity. The evolution of the slowly envelope of the optical field in a loop fiber subject to dispersion , Kerr nonlinearity, frequency- chirp and nonlinear absorption is given by the generalized complex Ginzburg-Landau equation. The influence of the frequency-chirp on the pulse is simulated and discussed, and the stationary conditions concerning the chirp parameter are found out for our laser.

In this paper we review our works in the field of nonlinear optics in waveguide arrays (WAs) and photonic nanowires. We first focus on the new equation governing light propagation in optical fibers with sub-wavelength cores which simultaneously takes into account (i) the vector nature of the electromagnetic modes inside fibers, (ii) the strong dispersion of the nonlinearity inside the spectral body of the pulse, (iii) and the full variations of the vector mode profiles with frequency.

The sign of the chirality per unit energy of a HE or EH mode is the same as or opposite to, respectively, the sign of the phase circulation direction. When the fiber radius is large enough, the field in a quasicircularly polarized hybrid mode can be superchiral outside the fiber. In particular, outside a fiber with a radius of 600 nm, the fields in the quasicircularly polarized HE11, HE21, and HE31 modes are superchiral.

The book opens with a section on recent advances in analytical methods. Dr. Kang Bongsu contributed a chapter that presents an alternative technique for the free and forced vibration analysis of one-dimensional distributed parameter systems. This approach is based on the idea of superimposing the amplitudes of the constituent travelling waves, rather than the traditional approach of normal mode expansion that relies on the apriori calculation of eigensolutions or assumed normal modes.

The Soneplex Single Fiber Quad Loop Extender (WQLX) module converts four multiplexed DS1 signals into an optical DS2 using wave division multiplexing (WDM) optics. Similar to ADC’s Quad Loop Extender (QLX), the WQLX transports the signal over single mode fiber, but uses only one fiber instead of two. The same module is also used at the remote end to convert the optical DS2 back into four DS1s at the customer premises.
