Nuclear reactions of proton by light nuclei at low energies play a key role in the study of nucleosynthesis which is of interest in nuclear astrophysics. The most fundamental process which is very necessary is the elastic scattering. In this work, we construct a microscopic proton-nucleus potential in order to describe the differential cross-sections over scattering angles of the proton elastic scattering by 12C and 13C in the range of available energies 14 - 22 MeV. The microscopic optical potential is based on the folding model using the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction CDM3Yn.

The microscopic hair analysis of Large Indian Civet (Viverra zibetha) and Small Indian Civet (Viverricula indica) was done using the optical light microscope for its species identification, the hair of two species showed different cuticular and cross-section characteristics. The unique cuticular pattern ‘broad diamond petal’ and the shape of the cross-section ‘oval or oblong’ of dorsal guard hair of two species determine the species identity between the two species.

The microscopic characteristics of dorsal guard hairs of Hyaena hyaena were examined using optical light microscope to know its hair morphology. The hair of H. hyaena is diagnosed by its unique medullary characteristics i.e. the composition of medulla- ‘unicellular regular’, structure of medulla- ‘simple or narrow medulla lattice’ and the ‘oblong’ shape cross-section. The photo-micrographs and characteristics of dorsal guard hairs are presented here may be used for the species identification.

Microscopy is a servant of all the sciences, and the microscopic examination of minerals is an important technique which should be mastered by all students of geology early in their careers. Advanced modern textbooks on both optics and mineralogy are available, and our intention is not that this new textbook should replace these but that it should serve as an introductory text or a first stepping-stone to the study of optical mineralogy.
