The dynamic response to variable magnitude moving distributed masses of simply supported non-uniform Bernoulli–Euler beam resting on Pasternak elastic foundation is investigated in this paper. The problem is governed by fourth order partial differential equation with variable and singular coefficients. The main objective of this work is to obtain closed form solution to this class of dynamical problem.

One of effective approaches to the study of long - time behavior of infinite dimensional dynamical systems is based on the concept of inertial manifolds which was introduced by C. Foias, G. Sell and R. Temam (see [4] and the references therein). These inertial manifolds are finite dimensional Lipschitz ones, attract trajectories at exponential rate. This enables us to reduce the study of infinite dimensional systems to a class of induced finite dimensional ordinary differential equations.

Understanding the dynamics of biological processes can substantially be supported by computational models in the form of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODE). Typically, this model class contains many unknown parameters, which are estimated from inadequate and noisy data.

(BQ) The book provides introductions to topics such as ordinary leastsquares regression, instrumental-variables estimation, and logit and probit models so that it is suitable for use in an undergraduate econometrics class, as a complement to an appropriate undergraduate-level te xt. The following table suggests sections of the book for an introductory class, with the caveat that in places formulas are provided using matrix algebra.

Because the average students are the prevailing part of the student population, it is important but difficult for the educators to help average students by improving their learning efficiency and learning outcome in school tests. We conducted a quasi-experiment with two English classes taught by one teacher in the second term of the first year of a junior high school. The experimental class was composed of average students (N=37), while the control class comprised talented students (N=34). Therefore the two classes performed differently in English subject with mean difference of 13.

The present paper deals with a class of non-linear ordinary second-order differential equations with exact solutions. A procedure for finding the general exact solution based on a known particular one is derived. For illustration solutions of some non-linear equations occured in many problems of solid mechanics are considered.

Alternative codes, an extension of the notion of ordinary codes, have been first introduced and considered by P. T. Huy et al. in 2004. In this paper, we consider some new subclasses of alternative codes. In particular, characteristic properties and a hierarchy of such codes are established. Also, algorithms to test for these classes of codes are proposed.

Recently, reflecting the growing needs of young people who intend to become more competent in the English language and plan to go abroad for study and work, not only universities but also more high schools in Japan have started to conduct preparation courses for English proficiency tests such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication), in addition to ordinary English classes.

I describe a head-driven parser for a class of grammars that handle discontinuous constituency by a richer notion of string combination than ordinary concatenation. The parser is a generalization of the left-corner parser (Matsumoto et al., 1983) and can be used for grammars written in powerful formalisms such as non-concatenative versions of HPSG (Pollard, 1984; Reape, 1989).

This Second Edition of the go-to reference combines the classical analysis and modern applications of applied mathematics for chemical engineers. The book introduces traditional techniques for solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs), adding new material on approximate solution methods such as perturbation techniques and elementary numerical solutions. It also includes analytical methods to deal with important classes of finite-difference equations. The last half discusses numerical solution techniques and partial differential equations (PDEs). The read...

Certainly, in no other great community, that ever existed upon the face of the globe was there so little daily ebb and flow as in this. Dull as an ordinary Town or City may be; however monotonous, eventless, even stupid the lives of its citizens, there is yet, nevertheless, a flow every day of its life-blood--its population towards its heart, and an ebb of the same, every evening towards its extremities. These recurring tides mingle all classes together and promote the general healthfulness, as the constant motion hither and yon of the ocean's waters purify and sweeten them.

Given a permutation w ∈ Sn , we consider a determinantal ideal Iw whose generators are certain minors in the generic n × n matrix (filled with independent variables). Using ‘multidegrees’ as simple algebraic substitutes for torus-equivariant cohomology classes on vector spaces, our main theorems describe, for each ideal Iw : • variously graded multidegrees and Hilbert series in terms of ordinary and double Schubert and Grothendieck polynomials;

Of making many English grammars there is no end; nor should there be till theoretical scholarship and actual practice are more happily wedded. In this field much valuable work has already been accomplished; but it has been done largely by workers accustomed to take the scholar's point of view, and their writings are addressed rather to trained minds than to immature learners. To find an advanced grammar unencumbered with hard words, abstruse thoughts, and difficult principles, is not altogether an easy matter.

We have attempted to write a concise modern treatment of differential equations emphasizing applications and containing all the core parts of a course in differential equations.Asemester or quarter course in differential equations is taught to most engineering students (and many science students) at all universities, usually in the second year. Some universities have an earlier brief introduction to differential equations and others do not. Some students will have already seen some differential equations in their science classes.We do not assume any prior exposure to differential equations.

MULTIPLICITY RESULTS FOR A CLASS OF ASYMMETRIC WEAKLY COUPLED SYSTEMS OF SECOND-ORDER ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS FRANCESCA DALBONO AND P. J. MCKENNA Received 1 November 2004 We prove the existence and multiplicity of solutions to a two-point boundary value problem associated to a weakly coupled system of asymmetric second-order equations. Applying a classical change of variables, we transform the initial problem into an equivalent problem whose solutions can be characterized by their nodal properties.
