In this paper, a range of analysis methods (XRD, XRF, SEM-EDS, ICP-MS, and AAS) were used to characterize the quality of Son Binh raw and fine sericite ores. The analytical results indicate that the Son Binh raw sericite ore belongs to a mineral group of sericite - quartz. Non-metallic mineral compositions are mainly quartz, sericite, and pyrophyllite.

The Bhainskati Formation of the Tansen Group in Palpa area is known for hematite iron ore deposit for long time. A prominent band of hematite of about 1-2 km thickness extending >5 km was identified in the upper part of the Bhainskati Formation in the present study and the band is repeated three times in the area by folding and faulting. Petrographic study shows that it is oolitic ironstone of sedimentary shallow marine origin. Main minerals in the band are hematite, goethite, quartz, calcite, siderite and albite.

Rudists are common fossils in transgressive Upper Cretaceous deposits in three localities placed in northwestern part of Croatia. Their appearances coincide with the beginning of a transgressive sequence through floatstones-thickets. Within the rudist community, Vaccinites Fischer 1887, Hippurites Lamarck 1801 and Hippuritella Douvillé 1908 could be differentiated according to their general or generic morphological elements.

The Kotana prospect is located about 30 km south of Giresun (NE Turkey). The ore mineralization is a Feskarn occurring within the low-grade pre-Lower Jurassic Pınarlar metamorphics, consisting of marble-phyllite intruded by the Upper Cretaceous−Eocene Aksu biotite monzogranite.

The main goal of 3D modeling studies in the mining sector is to address the complex geological, mineralogical, and structural factors in subsurface environments and detect the ore zone(s). In order to solve this complexity, use of quality data (e.g., a wide range of boreholes at regular intervals) is necessary. Graphite, especially, high quality graphite can be used in many industrial applications including metallurgy, batteries, fuel cells, and refractories. In 2011, Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued a mineral exploration license to explore Bao Ha graphite deposit, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai Province. The studied samples were taken from 3 drill holes of the Bao Ha largest ore body.

The upper part of ore bodies was weathered and completely oxidized. Difference in geochemical behavior of lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) in the oxidation process of Pb-Zn ore led to the formation of non-sulfide zinc ore in the Cho Dien deposit. Oxidation of primary Pb-Zn ore minerals such as sphalerite, pyrite and galena creates a low pH environment and transforms zinc from immobile (sphalerite - ZnS) to mobile (Zn2+) and is retained in solution under low(acidic) pH conditions; whereas lead has the tendency to form soluble minerals (anglesite, cerussite).

Formations of endogenous ore deposits and mineralization are widely distributed in Vietnam. Detailed studies allow for distinguishing 30 ore formations representing 9 groups of mineral raw - materials: Cr, Ti, Fe, Sn - W, Mo, Pb - Zn, Au, Sb - Hg. Three of presented formations are of magmatic affiliation, one is pegmatitic, three others belong to skarn mineralization and the remaining ones are of hydrothermal - volcanic and controversial origin. Three metallogenic epochs can be distinguished: Proterozoic, Palaeozoic and Mesozoic - Cainozoic.

Frequent surface appearance of the aquifer has produced a patchwork of wetlands, streams, rivers and lakes.This presents an issue for the efficient extraction of the phosphate rock deposit by draglines. If the opencast pit contains water, dragline operators have difficulty identifying the boundary between the ore and overburden, potentially result- ing in the loss of ore or dilution by barren rock.

Surface brine deposits are exploited using solar evap- oration ponds to concentrate and precipitate the potash. The evaporation ponds are extensive, with some operations covering in excess of 90 square kilo- meters of land area to produce around 8 million tonnes of potash ore per year. Conventional mechanized underground mining oper- ations are the most widely used method for the extraction of potash ore.
