In ebook "Atmospheric and aerosol chemistry" Atmospheric aerosol particles serve an important role in establishing the climate and in the hydrological cycle as nuclei in the formation of cloud droplets. The relationship between an aerosol particle’s chemical composition and its ability to serve as a cloud condensation nucleus (CCN) is complex. Organic material, a ubiquitous component of tropospheric aerosols, is typically more hydrophobic and less hygroscopic, and therefore less CCN active, than inorganic salts.

Salt hydrates, classified as inorganic phase change materials, are used in thermal energy storage (TES) systems. Due to their superior properties such as higher thermal conductivity and better thermal energy storage density, non-flammability and availability in wide temperature ranges at a reasonable cost than organic PCMs, salt hydrates are preferable PCMs.

Natural-product-based drugs commonly were converted to organic or inorganic salts due to better stability, solubility or membrane-permeability of new salts compared to the drug itself. In this report, succinate oxime ester of dipterocarpol was synthesized successfully in a simple column chromatography-free isolation process.

Chenopodium quinoa Willd., a halophytic crop, shows great variability among different genotypes in response to salt. To investigate the salinity tolerance mechanisms, five contrasting quinoa cultivars belonging to highland ecotype were compared for their seed germination (under 0, 100 and 400 mM NaCl) and seedling’s responses under five salinity levels (0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 mM NaCl).

Among various diseases of rapeseed mustard, Sclerotinia rot caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum is emerging out as a serious problem and a major constraint for production and productivity of this crop across the country. Due to increasing environmental concern and health hazard the old management solution of this disease in form of fungicides, need to be replaced with safe and eco-friendly management approach. So the present experiment was carried out for in vitro evaluation of botanical extracts, animal wastes products and organic and inorganic salts against the growth of pathogen.

Continuous applications of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers have been reported to affect soil pH, electrical conductivity, Soil organic carbon, available N, P and K. Electrical conductivity has been used as chemical indicator of soil biological quality in response to crop management practices. Continuous application of organic manure and inorganic fertilizer decreased soil pH but increased total soluble salt concentration.

Biochemistry is the study of the chemical composition and reactions of living matter. All chemicals in the body fall into one of two major classes: organic or inorganic compounds. Organic compounds contain carbon. All organic compounds are covalently bonded molecules, and many are large. All other chemicals in the body are considered inorganic compounds. These include water, salts, and many acids and bases. Organic and inorganic compounds are equally essential for life.

Mercury can exist in many different chemical and physical forms in the environment (see Box 2). Those different forms are called “species.” In this document, we will use the general term “mercury” to refer to all forms of the element, while “methylmercury” will be used to distinguish organometallic mercury compounds (essentially those that contain carbon) from inorganic forms of mercury. Pure mercury is known as elemental mercury or metallic mercury.
