The water treatment using surface water in these areas has to deal with double issues including organic matters and salinity. The research herein builds on the work of Rojek (2003) and further investigates the bioremediation of NOM wastes. The aim of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of selected white-rot fungi and yeast for the biodegradative removal of concentrated NOM from solution. The effectiveness of the white-rot fungus P. chrysosporium ATCC 34541 for the biological degradation of different batches of MIEXTM NOM concentrate and the effects of different characteristics of the NOM on the process and thus the resistance of the NOM to microbial removal were investigated.

The research article "Polyester production by halophilic and halotolerant bacterial strains obtained from mangrove soil samples located in Northern Vietnam" reports halophilic and halotolerant bacteria isolated from mangrove forests located in Northern Vietnam. Several of these bacteria were able to synthesize polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). PHAs are polyesters stored by microorganisms under the presence of considerable amounts of a carbon source and deficiency of other essential nutrient such as nitrogen or phosphorous.

Báo cáo sử dụng nguồn số liệu từ các điều tra, khảo sát chất lượng môi trường trầm tích tại một số vùng nuôi lồng bè trong vùng biển Nam Trung Bộ. Kết quả cho thấy sự tích lũy và gia tăng thành phần của chất hữu cơ tại vùng nuôi: Giá trị về tổng chất hữu cơ (Total Organic Matter - TOM) cho thấy tăng cao từ 1,5 đến 2 lần so với giá trị của TOM ở tầng trầm tích bề mặt các vùng vịnh ven bờ.

In this study, we aimed to use ferrate as an all-in-one alternative for the removal of chlorine-consumed compositions such as organic, color, turbidity, iron, and manganese in river water for water supply purposes. Ferrate (FeO42-) was simultaneously employed as coagulant and oxidant for purification of Saigon River water in order to reduce the formation of disinfection byproducts in the produced tap water.
