In this study, green-synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were surface-modified with pluronic F-127 after being synthesized using the leaf extract of guava (Psidium guajava). The resulting material, ZnO@F-127, was then characterized, and its anticancer activity was evaluated on several cell lines.

Electrochemical determination of salbutamol in aqueous solutions with UiO-66/rGO-modified electrodes
The synthesis of the UiO-66/rGO material involved combining UiO-66 with reduced graphene oxide (rGO). This resulting composite found application in the electrochemical determination of salbutamol (SAL) through modification of a glassy-carbon electrode (GCE) with UiO-66/rGO. Differential pulse voltammetry served as the chosen technique, offering a wide linear range spanning 1–160 μM and demonstrating a low limit of detection at 0.84 μM

Ebook "MWW-type titanosilicate: Synthesis, structural modification and catalytic applications to green oxidations" provides a comprehensive review of a new generation of selective oxidation titanosilicate catalysts with the MWW topology (Ti-MWW) based on the research achievements of the past 12 years. It gives an overview of the synthesis, structure modification and catalytic properties of Ti-MWW. Ti-MWW can readily be prepared by means of direct hydrothermal synthesis with crystallization-supporting agents, using dual-structure-directing agents and a dry-gel conversion technique.

Xanthomas are well-circumscribed lesions in the connective tissue of the skin, tendons, or fasciae that predominantly consist of foam cells; these specific cells are formed from macrophages as a result of an excessive uptake of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) particles and their oxidative modification.

The aim of this work was to understand involvement of PARylation in inducing enzymatic antioxidant defence and alternative electron sinks in response to salinity. For this purpose A. thaliana plants were treated with 3-aminobenzamide (3-AB), which is a PARP inhibitor, in the presence of 100 mM NaCl. The 3-AB treatment induced plant fresh weight under control and salinity conditions. Moreover, 100 mM NaCl + 3-AB treated plants had lower lipid peroxidation when compared to 100 mM NaCl group indicating mitigation of oxidative stress.

In this paper, carrageenans having distinct sulfation patterns (κ-, ι-, ι/ν-, θ- and λ-carrageenans), were fully or partially oxidized at C-6 of the β-D-Galp units using 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) and trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) in bicarbonate buffer.

Xylan is a biopolymer readily available from forest resources. Various modification methods, including oxidation with sodium periodate, have been shown to facilitate the engineering applications of xylan. However, modification procedures are often optimized for semicrystalline high molecular weight polysaccharide cellulose rather than for lower molecular weight and amorphous polysaccharide xylan.

Silicon (Si) is the most promising next-generation anode material for lithium-ion batteries. However, it often suffers from a fast capacity fading due to the large volume changes during the lithiation/delithiation resulting in electrical contact loss between different components of the anode and eventually in battery fading.

DNA is subject to constant chemical modification and damage, which eventually results in variable mutation rates throughout the genome. Although detailed molecular mechanisms of DNA damage and repair are well understood, damage impact and execution of repair across a genome remain poorly defined.

The surface of mesocellular silica foam (MCF) was modified by grafting 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (APTES) to have a positive charge, and thus to provide sites for the immobilization of H3PW12O40(PW12). This modified nanosized mesoporous silica (PW12-APTES@MCF) was characterized by FTIR, XRD, BET, and TEM. XRD and adsorption–desorption analysis shows that the mesostructure of silica remains intact after various modifications, while the spectral technique shows the successful grafting of the neat PW12 inside the porous silica support.

CO2 adsorption capacities of activated carbon-based adsorbents subjected to different treatments, such as HNO3 oxidation, air oxidation, alkali impregnation, and heat treatment under helium gas atmosphere, were determined by gravimetric analyses and reported previously by our group. In the current work, the experimental adsorption isotherms of these modified activated carbon samples were fitted to Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D-R) models.

This paper presents a comparative study of nanomaterial modified glassy carbon paste electrodes (GCPEs) used as bioanodes in enzymatic biofuel cells. The developed bioanode electrodes were obtained by modification of composite GCPEs with glucose oxidase (GOx) and different nanomaterials like manganese(IV) oxide nanoparticle (MnO2 np) and aluminum titanate (Al2O3–TiO2) bimetallic nanostructure. These nanostructures were utilized in a GCPEbased enzymatic bioanode construction for the first time.

This study describes a sensitive and accurate voltammetric method for determination of boron using metal nanoparticles/carbon nanotube modified electrodes. The oxidation peak of Alizarin Red S (ARS) at –0.59 V in the boronARS complex formed in ammonium/ammonia buffer solution (pH 8.5) was evaluated as a response. The electrode modification conditions and experimental parameters affecting the peak height were optimized.

Wool has disulphide bonds containing-hydrophobic external keratin layers, which act as a barrier for the modification through coating with hydrophilic materials. For that reason, in this work, to ensure a dense and homogenous conductive polymer coating onto the wool, the fabrics were subjected to the reduction process in the aqueous alkaline medium containing agents that can attack these disulphide bonds. Then, one of the polyaniline derivatives, poly(mtoluidine) (PMT), was coated onto wool by in situ polymerization of m-toluidine sulphate using ammonium persulfate (APS) as an oxidant.

Cell-type-specific genes exhibit heterogeneity in genomic contexts and may be subject to different epigenetic regulations through different gene transcriptional processes depending on the cell type involved. The gene-body regions (GBRs) of some cardiomyocyte (CM)-specific genes are long and highly hypomethylated in CMs. To explore the cell-type specificities of epigenetic patterns and functions, multiple epigenetic modifications of GBRs were compared among CMs, liver cells and embryonic stem cells (ESCs).

Protein carbonylation, an irreversible and non-enzymatic post-translational modification (PTM), is often used as a marker of oxidative stress. When reactive oxygen species (ROS) oxidized the amino acid side chains, carbonyl (CO) groups are produced especially on Lysine (K), Arginine (R), Threonine (T), and Proline (P).
