The main objective of this research was to develop a socially responsible vegan product, minimizing its environmental impact with a cleaner production approach. Generally, many vegan products are produced using soy as the main ingredient, but it is the second-largest agricultural driver of deforestation globally.

This study was conducted to determine the effects of different drying methods and cold storage treatments on the postharvest quality and nutritional properties of P. ostreatus mushroom. In the study, six different treatments including natural drying, oven drying (60°C), microwave drying (450 W), storage at -18°C, 4°C and 10°C were evaluated. After drying and cold storage, pH value, ash, protein, color, total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, antioxidant activity and element contents in mushroom samples were detected.

The research experiment was carried out using the Botanicals with wheat straw to evaluate the growth and yield parameters of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus florida). The botanicals were evaluated in combination with wheat straw (wheat straw + Neem, wheat straw + Lantana, wheat straw + Turmeric, wheat straw + Guava, wheat straw + basil and wheat straw alone) to find out best botanical supplemented that support the growth of oyster mushroom.

Four species of oyster mushroom including P. djamor, P. eous, P. florida and P. citrinopileatus were tested for their yield performance, of them, the most promising yield was obtained in P. eous and P. djamor with minimum spawn running period. On subjecting them with additional substrates, sorghum grain was superior over other spawn substrates for quality spawn production in terms of earliness in growth of spawn and total yield followed by wheat grain.

In this study the authors have attempted to domesticate traditionally preferred native oyster mushroom species to make it available as a regular source of nutrition and revenue. With this objective an experiment was designed for round the year cultivation of this wild edible strain in ambient conditions using locally available material as substrates. This study includes details of the collected species, cultivation methodology and biochemical composition of the species.

Light is an important factor deciding about yielding and morphological characters of Pleurotus carpophores. The objective of the research was to ascertain the impact of different light periods on radial growth of Pleurotus djamor, the pink oyster. The culture of P.djamor in petri plates were exposed to varying light period viz.6h light 18h darkness,9h light 15h darkness,12h light 12h darkness,18h light 6h darkness,15h light 9h darkness,24h light 0h darkness, respectively. Maximum growth of 75.

Among the oysters, P. eous recorded highest levels of non-enzymatic antioxidative substances. Total glutathione content was significantly very high in P. eous, followed by P. sajor-caju, P. flabellatus and H. ulmarius. High level of total phenols, flavanoids, lycopene total carotenoid and vitamin A were recorded in P. eous. This was followed by P. sajor-caju, P. flabellatus and H. ulmarius. There was no significant difference in vitamin C content among the oyster mushrooms.

The cultivation of Pleurotus cornucopiae, the branched oyster mushroom is not very common in India but is relished for its pleasant flavour and mild taste. Grain substrates for its spawn production have not been evaluated yet but, wheat grains are commonly used for the same. So, five different grain substrates viz., wheat, barley, kodo, jowar and maize were tested, for spawn run period, mycelia growth, fruit body characters and yield of said mushroom on five different substrates. It was found that minimum time for spawn run was taken by jowar grains (7.

The key role played by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) of India in popularizing oyster mushroom cultivation technology among the rural youths through training and demonstration programmes has been widely appreciated. Evaluation of outcome and efficacy of the training and demonstration programmes conducted by KVKs are necessary to keep the method of transfer of technology in right track. The present study was undertaken to find out the impact of training and demonstration programme conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barpeta.

Since ancient times, mushrooms have been considered as a special kind of food. Blue oyster mushroom is a novel species with very large fruit body, blue coloured pinheads becoming light white on maturity, high yielder, palatable with meaty flavour and attractive keeping quality. Different types of cereal grains i.e. maize, sorghum, bajra, wheat and paddy were taken to see their effect on spawn development and Different substrates i.e. wheat straw, paddy straw, mustard straw, sesamum straw and pigeon pea straw significantly influenced the spawn run period, pinhead initiation and yield of H.

The Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus cystidiosus) was cultivated on different agrowastes as substrates such as; sugarcane bagasse (ScB), rice straw (RS), and wheat straw (WS), whereas the fourth formula composed of combination of these three substrates in a proportion of 1: 1. The ScB, RS and WS agro-wastes substrates were selected as the most favorable lignocellulosic sources. P. cystidiosus can efficiently degrade the agro-wastes and grow at wide range of temperatures.
