  • Vitamins are regarded as vital growth substances. They act as cofactors of various key enzymes involved in metabolism and also have vital influence on metabolic activities of plants. They are believed to play a significant role in plants against abiotic stresses, particularly during water stress. The current experiment was conducted to evaluate the role of exogenously applied thiamin on two white clover cultivars, Super Late Fsd and Layalpur Late, at varying [100% (control), 80%, and 60% field capacities] water regimes.

  • The surface (0-15 cm) soil samples were used for analyzing the soil properties. The soil properties were determined using soil analytical methods given by Jackson (1973). Organic carbon content determined by wet digestion method of Walkley and Black, available nitrogen (N) by Kjeldahl’s method, available phosphorous (P) by Bray and Kurtz method and available potassium (K) by flame photometric method. The data collected on various parameters have been statistically analysed as per the method of Panse and Sukhatme (1978).

  • Present study was undertaken to evolve an efficient and reliable measure for management of sheath blight of rice through application of judicious doses of plant nutrients. In this investigation, the effect of different doses i.e. control dose (naturally available in soil), deficient dose, recommended dose and excess dose of macronutrients (N, P &K) & micronutrients (S, Zn & Fe) were assessed on incubation period for first appearance of sheath blight, disease severity and on phenolic contents in inoculated rice plants.
