P in natural environment

Phosphorus is a major limiting factor for plant growth particularly in the tropics and subtropics areas. It play an important role in many biochemical process viz., energy storage and transfer, cell division, cell enlargement and several other processes in plants. The availability of P to plants is a problem owing to its slow diffusion and high fixation in soils. Due to low solubility and mobility in soil, phosphorus use efficiency is very low ranges from 10-20% in normal soil.

Two hundred fifty soil samples from Tatrakallu village in scarce rainfall zone of Andhra Pradesh were drawn at 250 m grid interval leaving hills and water bodies and assessed for their fertility parameters. Analytical data was interpreted and statistical parameters like range, mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation were calculated. Soil fertility maps were prepared for each parameter under GIS environment using Arc GIS v 10.3. Soils were neutral to strongly alkaline with non-saline in nature and soil organic carbon content was low to medium.

In this context, farming with zeolites has drawn attention. Zeolites are natural aluminosilicates present in rocks in different part of the world. Use of zeolite has gained a momentum in the recent past owing to multitude of benefits accrued from them. Clinoptilolite Zeolites are useful in agriculture because of their large porosity, cation exchange capacity and selectivity for ammonium and potassium cations.

A series of laboratory and greenhouse experiments were conducted at the Environment, Natural Resources and Desertification Research Institute (ENDRI), National Centre for Research (NCR) and College of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sudan, to examine the efficacy of the fungus Trichoderma harzianum, culture age, inoculum type, application time, fungal extract, compost and bacterial strain on Striga hermonthica germination and sorghum infestation. Saigon River is a major river system and plays an important role in the economic and social development of the Southern key economic region. This paper studies the relationship between canals and the Saigon River. Water quality monitoring data was collected at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, with 10 parameters (temperature, pH, DO, turbidity, TSS, COD, BOD5, NNH4, P-PO4, coliform) calculated in the period 2007-2016.

Epidemiology Hemoglobinopathies are especially common in areas in which malaria is endemic. This clustering of hemoglobinopathies is assumed to reflect a selective survival advantage for the abnormal RBC, which presumably provide a less hospitable environment during the obligate RBC stages of the parasitic life cycle. Very young children with αthalassemia are more susceptible to infection with the nonlethal Plasmodium vivax. Thalassemia might then favor a natural protection against infection with the more lethal P. falciparum.
