This paper addresses the kinematic and dynamic modelling of a novel serial-parallel robot arm which has been designed and implemented for hot press forging industry in Vietnam. The robot is capable of replacing workers for transferring hot and heavy billets between a heating furnace and a hydraulic press machine of a forging station.

This paper deals with teamwork scheduling problem in available time windows. This problem has been posed by combining the three constraints are the jobs can split into some sub-jobs which should not be less than a threshold called splitmin, the jobs are only assigned into available time windows and the jobs can be assigned into many people in the organization.

This study developed a five-axis machine center that integrates two mechanical models: a three-degree-of-freedom parallel platform and traditional computer numerical control (CNC) X–Y table. In the design of the mechanism, the three actuator axes are parallel to each other, and the two platforms are installed in parallel. The positions of the moving platform are changed by extending and shortening the three axes.

This paper presents a mathematical model to consider both scheduling and layout planning for parallel machines in discrete and continuous spaces, concurrently. The preliminary results have indicated that the integrated model is capable of handling problems more efficiently.

In this paper, we have investigated the intelligent control of a hydraulically driven parallel robot based on the dynamic model and two control schemes have been developed: 1) Fuzzy-PID self tuning controller composed of the conventional PID control and with Fuzzy logic; 2) Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system-PID (ANFIS-PID) self tuning of the gains of the PID controller.

We present a cost-based (or energy-based) model of disambiguation. When a sentence is ambiguous, a parse with the least cost is chosen from among multiple hypotheses. Each hypothesis is assigned a cost which is added when: (1) a new instance is created to satisfy reference success, (2) links between instances are created or removed to satisfy constraints on concept sequences, and (3) a concept node with insufficient priming is used for further processing.

We investigate the problem of domain adaptation for parallel data in Statistical Machine Translation (SMT). While techniques for domain adaptation of monolingual data can be borrowed for parallel data, we explore conceptual differences between translation model and language model domain adaptation and their effect on performance, such as the fact that translation models typically consist of several features that have different characteristics and can be optimized separately.

Translation models used for statistical machine translation are compiled from parallel corpora; such corpora are manually translated, but the direction of translation is usually unknown, and is consequently ignored. However, much research in Translation Studies indicates that the direction of translation matters, as translated language (translationese) has many unique properties. Specifically, phrase tables constructed from parallel corpora translated in the same direction as the translation task perform better than ones constructed from corpora translated in the opposite direction. ...

We estimate the parameters of a phrasebased statistical machine translation system from monolingual corpora instead of a bilingual parallel corpus. We extend existing research on bilingual lexicon induction to estimate both lexical and phrasal translation probabilities for MT-scale phrasetables. We propose a novel algorithm to estimate reordering probabilities from monolingual data. We report translation results for an end-to-end translation system using these monolingual features alone.

One of the important observations done during the CLEF 2009 campaign (Ferro and Peters, 2009) related to CLIR was that the usage of Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) systems (eg. Google Translate) for query translation led to important improvements in the cross-lingual retrieval performance (the best CLIR performance increased from ˜55% of the monolingual baseline in 2008 to more than 90% in 2009 for French and German target languages). However, generalpurpose SMT systems are not necessarily adapted for query translation.

Multi-source statistical machine translation is the process of generating a single translation from multiple inputs. Previous work has focused primarily on selecting from potential outputs of separate translation systems, and solely on multi-parallel corpora and test sets. We demonstrate how multi-source translation can be adapted for multiple monolingual inputs.
