  • Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is an embryonic programme implicated in cancer stem cells, metastasis and therapeutic resistance. Its role in cancer progression remains controversial because the transition can be partial or complete in different models and contexts.

  • We present the results of a study related to phase transformation of chemically synthesized FePt nanoparticles under high pressure from face-centered cubic into face-centered tetragonal structure. As-synthesized nanoparticles are around 4.5 nm and show superparamagnetic behavior at 300 K. After annealing under 60 bar pressure of hydrogen at 400◦C for 2 h, nanoparticles exhibit strong ferromagnetic behavior with 5391 Oe coercivity.

  • Blends of polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) were prepared by melt-mixing method. Flammability of these blends was studied by using UL-94 (plastics flammability standard) and LOI (limited oxygen index) tests. The results showed the role of PPO as flame retardant in the blends which can inhibit the burning process. All blends of PPO and ABS were graded as V-1 and LOI values were higher than 21. As a physical mixture, tensile strength of PPO/ABS blends maintained values between the tensile of neat ABS and PPO.

  • Previous studies reported that in partial knee arthroplasty smooth transitions to the remaining native parts of the knee are important. However, in mobile-bearing unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA) it is mandatory to create an anterior osteochondral notch adjacent to the femoral component to get clearance for the anterior lip of the bearing in full knee extension.

  • This paper is concerned with the stabilization problem via state-feedback control of discrete-time jumping systems with stochastic multiplicative noises. The jumping process of the system is driven by a discrete-time Markov chain with finite states and partially known transition probabilities. Sufficient conditions are established in terms of tractable linear matrix inequalities to design a mode-dependent stabilizing state-feedback controller. A numerical example is provided to validate the effectiveness of the obtained result.

  • The hypotheses were empirically tested using partial least squarestructural equation modeling with survey data from 171 large business firms in Vietnam. The standardized root mean squared residual value of the composite model was also examined using SmartPLS3 to test the model fit. The marker-variable technique was employed to test common method bias.

  • Employing a sample of Vietnamese banks covering the period 2005 to 2015, this study investigates the influence of bank ownership and financial liberalisation measures on banking efficiency and contributes to the literature in two important respects. First, this paper broadens our understanding of the liberalisation process in the banking sector of a developing transition economy. Second, it sheds light on the long-term and dynamic impact of partial liberalisation measures on the efficiency of its banking system and implications for the country’s economic growth and development.

  • The effect of the coordination of a Ni(II) ion on the electronic and magnetic properties of the ligand salophen were experimentally and theoretically evaluated. The complex [Ni(salophen)] was synthesized and characterized through FTIR and an elemental analysis. Spectral data obtained using DMSO as a solvent showed that the ligand absorption profile was significantly disturbed after the coordination of the metal atom.

  • We have studied the superconducting transition of the high-Tc Li-doped Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconductors by the DC-resistivity and AC-susceptibility measurements. It was found that Li+ cations are partially substituted for Cu2+ ions. Doping hole by Lithium substitution was supposed to take place in both OP and IP CuO2 planes.

  • Miscibility of NRL and chitosan in solution was investigated by using dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and found that chitosan incorporated with NRL less than 40 weight percentage (wt%) was partially miscible. Films of the chitosan blending with higher NRL contents exhibited two peaks of glass transition temperatures. Interfacial polarization and dielectric properties of polymer films were improved with increasing NRL contents. Chemical structure of the blends were characterized by using attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR).

  • In this paper the structural and dynamical characteristics in alumina- silicate Al2O3– 2SiO2 (AS2) liquid are investigated by molecular simulation method. Structural properties are clarified through the pair radial distribution function, distribution of TOn (T= Si, Al) coordination units and distribution of partial bond angle in TOn. Furthermore the change in diffusion mechanism between low and high pressure is revealed by transition of the structural units TOx → TOx±1. At the lowpressure, liquid AS2 exhibits the dynamics heterogeneity (DH).

  • Transition-based dependency parsers are often forced to make attachment decisions at a point when only partial information about the relevant graph configuration is available. In this paper, we describe a model that takes into account complete structures as they become available to rescore the elements of a beam, combining the advantages of transition-based and graph-based approaches. We also propose an efficient implementation that allows for the use of sophisticated features and show that the completion model leads to a substantial increase in accuracy.

  • Together, we have to successfully make this important transition which is the most demanding challenge our industry has to meet since, at the beginning of the 1930s, cinema progressed from silent films to films with sound. Although more than 2,100 screens are equipped in France today (i.e. 40% of the total screens count) – one of the most rapidly growing d-cinema market in the world - this challenge is far from being accomplished. We have...

  • Inspired by Lorenz’ remarkable chaotic flow, we describe in this paper the structure of all C 1 robust transitive sets with singularities for flows on closed 3-manifolds: they are partially hyperbolic with volume-expanding central direction, and are either attractors or repellers. In particular, any C 1 robust attractor with singularities for flows on closed 3-manifolds always has an invariant foliation whose leaves are forward contracted by the flow, and has positive Lyapunov exponent at every orbit, showing that any C 1 robust attractor resembles a geometric Lorenz attractor. ...
