This history of antimicrobials is marked with impressive discoveries, the majority of which have their origin in natural products. However in this work, the antimicrobial activity of β- nitrostyrenes and related compounds of synthetic origin is reviewed and investigated with a particular focus on the influence of fluorine functionality. Various fluorinated β-methyl-β-nitrostyrene compounds were prepared, their minimum inhibition concentration in cultures of Gram positive, Gram negative and a fungus and their lipophilicity was determined.

In this paper, in order to construct a 3D quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) model with the chlorobenzene (CB) molecular structure parameter as an independent variable and the octanol-water partition coefficient (KOW ) as a dependent variable, 9 kinds of CB molecules were used as training sets and 3 kinds of CB molecules were used as test sets. We adopted the QSAR module in the Sybyl-X2.0 software from the Tripos Corporation (USA).

This paper presents the research results of theoretical model and numerical model of the washed-out process of alkylphenols in the late stage of water injection. The research results have proposed approximate analytical expression for concentration of alkylphenols at the late stage of water flooding. In this regard, at the sufficient large injection volume the alkylphenol concentration attenuates exponentially and the attenuation rate depends on parameters such as partitioning coefficient, oil saturation and interstitial velocity of water and oil and diffusion coefficients.

In this study, the partitioning of fluoxetine, an antidepressant of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor class into a mixture containing anionic and zwitterionic lipid vesicles was evaluated using second derivative spectrophotometry. The partition coefficients (Kp ) of fluoxetine into the large unilamellar vesicles (LUVs) composed of zwitterionic 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3- phosphocholine (DSPC) containing 0 mol%, 10 mol%, 20 mol%, and 30 mol% of anionic 1,2-dipalmitoyl-snglycero-3-phosphoglycerol (DPPG) were measured in HEPES buffer at pH 7.4.

The combination of Zernike moments and curvelet-like transform can bring the most significant feature coefficients in pattern recognition. Instead of using Zernike moments in the image, we apply Zernike moments on every corona of curvelet-like transform. This combination brings special properties when we can represent the shape of each the corona through Zernike moments. More especially, we use orientation of wedge of curvelet-like transform at specific scale for Zernike moments instead of using uniformly partition angle as in normal Zernike moments.
