Bullous systemic lupus erythematosus is an uncommon autoimmune subepidermal vesiculobullous disease occurring in less than 5% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. The diagnosis of bullous systemic lupus erythematosus is based on clinical picture, histopathological findings, direct immunofluorescence and other immunologic tests.

Nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE), or marantic endocarditis, is one of the most prevalent cardiac presentations seen in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It is a condition that is characterized by noninfectious lesions affecting cardiac valves. The most common sight for this disease to affect is the left-sided mitral and aortic cardiac valves.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease with diverse clinical manifestations and relapsing - remitting disease course. Nephritis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with lupus. Many clinical parameters and laboratory markers can be used to evaluate disease activity and nephritis.

Rituximab is a B cell depleting anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody. CD20 is not expressed on mature plasma cells and accordingly rituximab does not have immediate effects on immunoglobulin levels. However, after rituximab some patients develop hypogammaglobulinaemia.

Female patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are prone to have musculoskeletal system involvement, which could lead to joint damage. However, few studies have assessed the incidence of arthroplasty in female patients with SLE. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk of total hip replacement surgery and total knee replacement surgery in patients with SLE.

Gastrointestinal symptoms occur in approximately 50% of patients with systemic lupus erythematous with low specificity. Although it is well established that colon cancer is one of the many gastrointestinal manifestations associated with systemic lupus erythematous, the diagnosis and treatment remains complex due to adrenal insufficiency symptoms.

Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome is characterized by venous and/or arterial thrombosis, and is found in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Its diagnosis requires the presence of both clinical and laboratory findings, such as positive anti-cardiolipin and anti-β2 glycoprotein I antibodies and lupus anticoagulant.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystemic autoimmune disease with a variable clinical course and a wide range of organ manifestations. 101 Blood samples were tested for both anti-dsDNA and Complement levels in patients satisfying the 1982 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria (updated in 1997) for SLE with suspected clinical flares using Euroimmun ELISA Anti-ds DNA-NcX ELISA (IgG) kit and by Nephelometry using the Nephstar kit for both the complements C3 and C4.

Jaccoud’s arthropathy (JA) is a chronic, deforming, non-erosive arthropathy occurring in a subset of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In this research we aimed to evaluate clinical and immunological features in patients with SLE complicated by JA. Eighty seven consecutive SLE patients with a history of arthritis were included in the present study. These patients were subdivided according to ‘‘Jaccoud’s arthropathy index’’ as follows: non-deforming arthropathy, mild deforming and definite Jaccoud. Demographic data, disease activity and disability were recorded.

Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) is characterized by particular cutaneous manifestations such as non-scaring plaques mainly in sunlight exposed parts of the body along with specific serum autoantibodies (i.e. antinuclear antibodies (ANA), Ro/SSa, La/SSb). It is consid- ered either idiopathic or drug induced. The role of chemotherapeutic agents in causing SCLE has been investigated with the taxanes being the most common anticancer agents.
