  • The results indicate a statistically significant increase in extreme rainfall at the expense of light, moderate, and heavy rainfall over time. The only negative relationship is found in dry days. The most statistically significant trends exist in the 99th percentile, maximum, and R100 parameters with p-values of 0.07, 0.08, and 0.11, respectively

  • CuxMg1.xFe2O4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by coprecipitation. The samples were calcined at 900 oC for 3 h and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that Cu0.5Mg0.5Fe2O4 had a single phase cubic spinel structure, while formation of secondary phase of Fe2O3 was observed in XRD patterns of CuFe2O4, MgFe2O4. The saturation magnetization (Ms) of Cu0.5Mg0.5Fe2O4 is in between the saturation magnetization values of CuFe2O4 and MgFe2O4 nanoparticles, CuFe2O4 is a ferromagnetic material, while MgFe2O4 and Cu0.5Mg0.5Fe2O4 show superparamagnetic behavior.

  • Mechanical alloying was used to synthesize in-situ copper based composite reinforced by binary niobiumtitanium-carbide from Cu, Nb, Ti and graphite powder mixture. The nominal composition was correponded to Cu-30 vol.% (Nb,Ti)C. XRD patterns showed that (Nb, Ti)C was not formed in the as-milled powder after 5 hours of milling but was precipitated with a subsequent sintering at 900oC. Milling time has showed a great influence on both mechanical and physical properties of the sintered composite pellets

  • Droughts happen when there is not enough rainfall for a longer period of time. When there is so little precipitation (rainfall, snow etc.) the whole region starts to dry out. Sometimes a drought take decades to develop fully and they are very difficult to predict. Rainfall data of 15 years (2001-2015) based on standard weeks was analyzed for Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh.

  • Traditional medicinal system utilizes a huge scale of plants which are largely angiosperms. The high altitude cold deserts of the Indian Himalayas sustain a considerable amount of specialized vegetation, which is widely scattered across different habitats. The cold desert covers land area of 186,200 square km spread over region of the Himalayas. These desert covers about 20% of total land of earth, but the pattern of precipitation and altitude of cold desert specifically supports a unique biome.

  • Drought is universally acknowledged as a phenomenon associated with scarcity of water. The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) expresses the actual rainfall as standardized departure from rainfall probability distribution function. In this study severity and spatial pattern of meteorological drought was analyzed in the Anantapuramu District, Andhra Pradesh, India using multi-temporal SPI.

  • The study of precipitation variability is critically important for a country like India whose food security and economy are dependent on the timely availability of water. Among the climatic elements, the rainfall is the first index, ever thought of by farmers and climatic analyzers as it is the most important single factor, which determines the cropping pattern of an area in general, the type of crop to be cultivated and its success or failure in particular.

  • The present study deals with the potential of using precipitation-based Standardized Precipitation Index to analyse the temporal pattern of drought in South Kashmir area of Jammu and Kashmir. Monthly precipitation data from 1980 to 2017 for Anantnag region were used to compute Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) values. The computation of SPI series was done for short, intermediate as well as for long time scales. Analysis of SPI values were done to study the temporal patterns of drought occurrence. The drought severity and duration were also estimated.

  • Last few decades have been momentous in the history of human and animal health because a series of new infectious zoonotic viruses were reported and researched across the globe. More than 70% of the emerging zoonoses reported in the last decade had viral etiology and originated in wild life. Changing face of zoonotic viruses poses threat to public health and economy. The risk factors precipitating the occurrence of emerging viruses are many; and they are in a state of continuous evolution.

  • Hydrological modelling is a powerful technique of hydrologic system investigation for both the research hydrologists and the practicing water resources engineers involved in the planning and development of integrated approach for management of water resources. In present study, the observed rainfall and runoff data of 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014years were used as input data. In ANN, input data was divided in 70 per cent, 15 per cent and 15 per cent for training, testing and validation purpose, respectively.

  • Climate change has emerged as the most serious environmental challenges. It is necessary to evaluate its impacts on climate-vulnerable development sectors, such as agriculture. Human impacts on environment have resulted in altered environmental conditions that influence changes in abundance and diversity of insect pests. In the present study, an attempt was made to determine the impact of changes in the climatic conditions on grape crop in Tasgaon tehsil. Various weather parameters like rainfall, temperature and relative humidity were analyzed in the region.

  • Climate change influences composite set of measurable physical, chemical and biological soil properties attributes which relate to functional soil processes. Climate change impacts soil chemical, physical and biological functions through a range of predicted global change drivers such as rising atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) levels, elevated temperature, altered precipitation (rainfall) and atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition (French et al., 2009).

  • Second, in Pike's Breast Tissue Age model, a one-time rapid increase in breast tissue age and therefore breast can- cer risk is included immediately following the first full- term pregnancy [138]. The extension of Pike's model includes multiple births by incorporating smaller increases in risk at each additional full-term pregnancy [139]. This pattern of increased risk for breast cancer immediately following full-term pregnancies is well-doc- umented [140-142]. E2 concentrations increase steadily during pregnancy, peaking at about 100 times normal cycling levels [3].
