The latest release in this series is YOLOv8. In this article, the authors introduce a Deep Learning approach for object detection employing the YOLOv8 model. The testing outcomes reveal that the model attains a peak accuracy of 95 % for large and well-defined objects, whereas objects that are obscured and small in size exhibit an accuracy of 27.5 %.

The study will focus on monitoring defects and finding out the nature of these defects. Bulk GaN was irradiated by a 2 MeV electron beam at a fluence of 5×1016 cm2 and studied by deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS). After irradiation, a broad peak, including at least two traps, was detected. The trap D1 (EC −0.16 eV) observed from a broad peak is induced during the annealing process below 550K and completely annealed out at 550K after 10 hours.

In this report, silicon quantum dots (SiQDs) with the NH2 functional group were synthesized with the hydrothermal method. The as-prepared SiQDs exhibit a strong fluorescence emission peak at 441 nm when excited at 355 nm and are effectively quenched upon adding Cr6+ ions.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have a great influence on various physiological functions. A lot of high-throughput sequencing (HTS) research on miRNAs has been executed in the caprine mammary gland at different lactation periods (common milk lactation and dry period), but little is known about differentially expressed miRNAs in the caprine mammary gland of colostrum and peak lactation periods.

Environmental radiation monitoring stations using the NaI(Tl) scintillation detector have higher sensitivity and provide more accurate radiation dose values than using Geiger-Muller counters. However, when the temperature of the environment changes, the measuring data changes (due to the temperature dependence on the NaI(Tl) light yield and the quantum efficiency of the PMT).

This study presents a design of digital multi-channel analyzer (DMCA) based on Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for HPGe detector. The main hardware of DMCA is implemented by using a 16-bit ADC with 105 Msps and Artix-7 FPGA. The algorithms of pulse shaping filter, detecting peaks and spectrum histogram processing are designed and simulated by using MATLAB.

Disposable sensors based on a pencil graphite electrode were described for detection of alkyl phenols. The performances of the disposable bare pencil graphite electrode (PGE) and PGE modified with carbon nanotubes, regarding the cyclic and differential pulse voltammetric determination of 4-nonylphenol, 4-octylphenol, and 4-tert-octylphenol, were compared. Some experimental variables of the electrode surface pretreatment and measurement parameters were optimized. Using a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.

The procedure is simple: to a known amount of sulfite in the polarographic cell (HAc, pH 6 or 7) is added an unknown Hg(II) sample. The Hg(II) concentration is calculated simply from the decrease in the sulfite peak after reaction with Hg(II). The limit of detection was 1 × 10 −6 M (S/N = 3) in this medium, which could not be obtained with most other mercury determination methods. The proposed new method exhibits high selectivity, sensitivity, reproducibility, and accuracy.

As a result, the characteristic CV peaks were obvious even at a low concentration of 1010 M. In a mixture of two probes, the ZnONFs@Ag chip provided an outstanding selectivity in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of each target molecule at low concentrations.

A pencil graphite electrode (PGE) was used for the simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid (AA), norepinephrine (NE), and uric acid (UA) by differential pulse voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. The anodic peaks of AA, NE, and UA in their mixture can be well separated in 0.1 M Britton–Robinson buffer solution at pH 4.0. The effects of various experimental parameters such as pH, scan rate, and voltammetric parameters on the voltammetric response of these compounds were investigated.

A highly sensitive and simple method based on an ionic liquid/ex situ bismuth film-modified single-use pencil graphite electrode (IL/Bi/PGE) was offered for the electrochemical detection of cefixime (CEF) for the first time. The synergistic effects of the ionic liquid and bismuth film combination as the surface modifier remarkably improved the electrochemical response of the modified sensor. Anodic oxidation of CEF was observed at 0.9 V vs. Ag/AgCl/3 M KCl as one well-defined irreversible oxidation peak.

Phenmedipham is an herbicide used especially in the sugar beet harvest to fight against broad-leaved weeds and studies of its voltammetric behavior and detection have not been done before. The superior properties of carbon nanotubes such as electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, and wide potential ranges make them attractive for chemical sensors and the phenmedipham compound gave an oxidation peak at +1320 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) on the nanostructured multiwalled carbon nanotube paste electrode.

This work reports an electrochemical sensor with a modified glassy carbon electrode for the detection of kaempferol. The method was tailored by the immobilization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) assimilated with Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) onto the electrode surface to detect kaempferol using differential pulse voltammetry. Thermogravimetric, transmission electron microscopic, cyclic, and differential voltammetric techniques were employed to characterize the developed electrochemical sensor. The kaempferol produces an anodic quasireversible peak at pH 6.

Genome-wide tiling array experiments are increasingly used for the analysis of DNA methylation. Because DNA methylation patterns are tissue and cell type specific, the detection of differentially methylated regions (DMRs) with small effect size is a necessary feature of tiling microarray ‘peak’ finding algorithms, as cellular heterogeneity within a studied tissue may lead to a dilution of the phenotypically relevant effects.

Label-free quantitation of mass spectrometric data is one of the simplest and least expensive methods for differential expression profiling of proteins and metabolites. The need for high accuracy and performance computational label-free quantitation methods is still high in the biomarker and drug discovery research field.
