Soft-tissue myoepithelioma (STM) is an extremely rare benign tumor with predominant occurrence in head, neck, pelvic girdle and limbs. These tumors lack specific clinical and morphological features and can easily be confused with more common neoplasms. It may lead to incorrect diagnosis and management.

Radiation induced enteropathy is a common complication of radiotherapy for pelvic tumors and adversely affects patient quality of life. Probiotics are thought to restore bowel microflora to optimal levels and reinforce intestinal barrier capacity. Although probiotics are effective in the treatment of radiation induced enteropathy, less is known about their efficacy to prevent radiation induced enteropathy.

Despite improved surgical and oncological treatment, ovarian cancer continues to be the most lethal of the gynecologic malignancies. We aimed to analyze survival trends in epithelial ovarian cancer with regard to age, tumor site, and morphology in Sweden 1960 to 2014.

Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) seems to be high in patients undergoing pelvic and sacrum tumor resection assisted by abdominal aortic balloon occlusion. We hypothesized that the accumulative occlusion time (AOT) of the abdominal aortic balloon may be predictive of PPCs.

Uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1 family polypeptide A1 (UGT1A1) is a predictive biomarker for the side-effects of irinotecan chemotherapy, which reduces the volume of tumors harboring UGT1A1 polymorphisms.

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign pelvic tumors in women of reproductive age. They affect 20–40% of those women1 but are found in 75% of hysterectomy specimens2. This is due to the mones fact that most fibroids are asymptomatic. Estimate of prevalence would need to be based on oultrasound screening.

Abdominal or pelvic mass can present at any age of life. In a random sample of 335 asymptomatic women aged 25–40 years, the point prevalence of an adnexal lesion on ultrasound examination was 7.8%(prevalence of ovarian cysts 6.6%)1. Preva- in a woman’s lower abdo-lence of pelvic masses in postmenopausal women can vary widely from 2.5% to 10% in postmeno-pausal women.

At the time of Atreya and Dhanwantri (seventh century BC), surgery was considered one of the best methods of treatment for arbuda. They found that herbal medicine treatments against cancer, either in the form of granthi or arbuda, were beneficial only in the beginning stage. Nonetheless, they recorded a group of successful treat- ments for use against gulmas (cystic tumors) and neoplasms of individual organs.

Clinical course of CLL is variable. Recently, progress has been made in the identification of biological markers that could predict disease progression. Particularly, the expression of unmutated Ig genes, some cytogenetic abnormalities like 17p and 11q deletions and the expression of the zeta-associated protein 70 (ZAP-70) are associated to a poor prognosis.

Intraperitoneal infections generally arise because a normal anatomic barrier is disrupted. This disruption may occur when the appendix, a diverticulum, or an ulcer ruptures; when the bowel wall is weakened by ischemia, tumor, or inflammation (e.g., in inflammatory bowel disease); or with adjacent inflammatory processes, such as pancreatitis or pelvic inflammatory disease, in which enzymes (in the former case) or organisms (in the latter) may leak into the peritoneal cavity.

Leiomyomas are discrete, rounded, firm, white to pale pink, benign myometrial tumors composed mostly of smooth muscle with varying amounts of fibrous connective tissue. Approximately 95% arise from the uterine corpus and 5% from the cervix. Only occasionally do they arise from a fallopian tube or round ligament. Leiomyomas are the most frequent pelvic tumors, occurring in 25% of white and 50% of black women by age 50 years. Leiomyomas account for 10% of gynecologic problems and have their peak incidence in the fifth decade.

Chondrosarcoma Chondrosarcoma, which constitutes ~20–25% of all bone sarcomas, is a tumor of adulthood and old age with a peak incidence in the fourth to sixth decades of life. It has a predilection for the flat bones, especially the shoulder and pelvic girdles, but can also affect the diaphyseal portions of long bones. Chondrosarcomas can arise de novo or as a malignant transformation of an enchondroma or, rarely, of the cartilaginous cap of an osteochondroma. Chondrosarcomas have an indolent natural history and typically present as pain and swelling.

Malignant germ cell tumors are usually large (median—16 cm). Bilateral disease is rare except in dysgerminoma (10–15% bilaterality). Abdominal or pelvic pain in young women is the usual presenting symptom. Serum human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) and α fetoprotein levels are useful in the diagnosis and management of these patients. Before the advent of chemotherapy, extensive surgery was routine, but it has now been replaced by careful evaluation of extent of spread, followed by resection of bulky disease and preservation of one ovary, the uterus, and the cervix, if feasible.

Uterine Cancer Incidence and Epidemiology Carcinoma of the endometrium is the most common female pelvic malignancy. Approximately 39,080 new cases are diagnosed yearly, although in most (75%), tumor is confined to the uterine corpus at diagnosis, and therefore most can be cured. The 7400 deaths yearly make uterine cancer only the eighth leading cause of cancer death in females.
