  • The present investigations was carried out to study the effect of hot water seed treatment comprised of different ranges of temperature (47-49, 50-52 and 53-55 °C) and discrete duration of time (30, 45 and 60 min.). The seeds of bell pepper and their most important seed-borne pathogens (Alternaria spp., Curvuleria spp., Penicillium spp., Fusarium spp. Colletotrichum spp.) have been investigated in laboratory. Thee numbers of infected seeds were observed and recorded daily and per cent incidence was evaluated.

  • The current research reveals the biocontrol potential of local Trichoderma isolates against the fungal pathogen Penicillium digitatum which causes green rot of Citrus fruit. In the present investigation, the isolates of Trichoderma spp. grown from locally collected soil samples were screened against the fungal pathogen Penicillium digitatum, which resulted into the substantial inhibition of the fungal phytopathogen.

  • The present study revealed that the growth of R. bataticola was effectively inhibited (100%) by all the fungicides viz., Carbendazim (0.2%), Carboxin (0.2%), Mancozeb (0.2%), Carbendazim (0.1%) + Carboxin (0.1%) except inhibition (23.28%) by Neem extract 5%. Similar trend was observed in pathogens viz., F. oxysporum f. sp. ciceri, Penicillium spp. and A. niger. The completely growth (100%) was inhibited by fungicides Carbendazim (0.2%), Carboxin (0.2%), Carbendazim (0.1%) + Carboxin (0.1%) followed by Mancozeb (77.49, 75.60 and 74.52 %).

  • Microorganisms play important roles in the recycling of agricultural wastes. Composting is the degradation of organic materials through the activities of diverse microorganisms. The compost generated by bioconversion of agro-residues offers several benefits such as enhanced soil fertility and soil health which can lead to increased agricultural productivity, improved soil biodiversity, reduced ecological risks and a healthier environment. This investigation examined the microbial community dynamics, loads and identification of microbiota at various stages of composting process.

  • Seed health testing to detect seed-borne pathogens is an important step in the management of crop diseases. Laboratory experiments were carried out at College of Agriculture, Bhawanipatna during Kharif, 2018 to investigate the planting value of the seed and extent of seed-borne fungal pathogen problems from farmers saved seeds in Western undulated Zone of Odisha. A total number of six seed samples of Sesame were collected from farmers saved seeds in M. Rampur, Karlapada, Bhawanipatna, T. Rampur, Kesinga and Narla block of Kalahandi districts.
