Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) is a food, fiber and oil seed crop cultivated in cooler regions. The oil content of the seed varies from 33–47%. In India it is grown mainly for seed used for extracting oil. The crop is affected by Alternaria blight caused by Alternaria spp. Different doses of microalgae were applied (@ 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5 kg/acre) with irrigation at critical growth stages of crop (vegetative phase, flowering phase and maturity phase) and observations were recorded on plant growth parameters and per cent disease incidence of Alternaria Blight.

Rice (Oryza sativa) occupies a prime position in the family Poaceae and it is the highly consumable crop of almost half of the world's population. Among the various diseases affecting rice, blast incited by Magnaporthe oryzae is the one of the ubiquitous and economically important disease which affects almost all the stages of crop and cause yield loss upto 50%. In the present study, survey was carried out in Nilgiri and Madurai districts of Tamil Nadu for the collection of blast isolates. The blast disease incidence ranged from 8.8 to 42.4 per cent in various rice cultivars.

Disease score was recorded at maturity stage by counting number of infected plants in each line and the per cent disease incidence was calculated. The disease intensity was scored adopting the following 1-9 score (Singh et.al., 1988) (Table-1). On maturity 100 random plants of each entry selected and harvested separately from which the average plant yield of each entry calculated.

Field screening of 5 mungbean varieties for resistance against whitefly, induced Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Virus (MYMV) was carried out during Rabi and Kharif on 2014. Population of whitefly ranged from 3.22 to 7.69 per plant while MYMV incidence ranged from 6.00 to 39.00 per cent during Zaid 2014. Only one variety Pant Moong-1 was found to be resistant to whitefly during Zaid 2014.

Citrus canker caused by Xanthomonas citri (Hasse) is the major constraint for production of citrus. Two season pooled research data revealed that, plants treated with the spray combination of 2- bromo-2-nitro propane1,3diol (Bactrinashak) + Streptomycin Sulphate + Tetracycline Hydrochloride + COC for four times with 30 days interval recorded the per cent disease incidence of 16 and 14 on leaves and twigs respectively. The maximum PDI of 29 on leaves and 25 on twigs was observed in untreated control. Similar trend was maintained on fruits and recorded higher yield of 17.

Therefore, three different varieties and three local cultivars were evaluated by pot culture under controlled condition. Study of varietal resistance revealed that all the six cultivars tested under controlled glass house condition were found highly susceptible (HS) to stem rot or basal stem rot diseases. But some other cultivars are found low level of per cent disease incidence.
