Tagetes patula is used to treat cancer patients in alternative healthcare systems. However, its cytotoxic and genotoxic effects have not been reported. Therefore, the methanol extract of T. patula flower, the ethyl acetate fraction, and the pure compound patuletin were evaluated using the Allium test. The methanol extract and fraction contained ~3% and ~36% patuletin, respectively, with ~98% purity. The methanol extract caused inhibition of Allium root growth displaying an IC50 value of ~500 µg/mL, while the fraction and patuletin were more potent by ~2 and ~5 times, respectively.

Maize is one of the most produced cereal crops in the world and is eaten by a billion people in a variety of food products. Zinc, an essential trace element is found in maize but inhibited by phytates present in it. The level of phytate can be reduced by processing of maize grains. The present investigation was undertaken to see the effect of changes on zinc and phytic acid. Among the processing methods like roasting, boiling and lime treatment, an increase in zinc content (7.28%) and decrease in phytic acid (13.

Four fungal bioagents viz., Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum, Pochonia chlamydosporia and Purpureocillium lilacinum were screened for their efficacy against Meloidogyne incognita under in-vitro conditions through egg parasitism, egg hatch inhibition and second-stage juveniles mortality test. P. chlamydosporia showed highest egg parasitism. In respect of egg hatch inhibition and juvenile mortality, the culture filtrates of these fungal bioagents were tested and found to be effective in inhibition of egg hatch and mortality of juveniles of M.

Effect of Trichoderma viride liquid formulations on percent growth inhibition of soil born pathogens
An experiment was conducted during 2016-17 in the department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Nagpur. The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 10 treatments and three replications. Shelf life studies of Trichoderma viride was executed by using different carriers viz. paraffin oil, mustard oil, groundnut oil, diesel, soybean oil, sunflower oil, talc powder mixed with broth 40ml + 5ml dispersant + 3ml suspender + 8ml surfactant in each oil.

Castor (Ricinus communis L.) experienced serious declines in yield caused by wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ricini. To control the wilt pathogen, commonly fungicides are used, which cause undesirable toxic effect on the environment. To minimize the pollution impact, there is an urgent need to develop alternative ecofriendly strategies. Therefore, to fill these knowledge gaps and to investigate potential botanical's efficacy on the wilt pathogen F. oxysporum f.sp. ricini, an in vitro bioassay was conducted. Twentysix botanicals were extracted at two different concentrations viz.

Chlorpyrifos, is one of the most widely used organophosphorus insecticides for agricultural activities, and it is highly toxic to non-target organisms. This paper aims to acquire the experimental data on the eco-toxicological effects of Chlorpyrifos and the data can support the assessment of toxicity on the phytoplankton. The microalgae S. platensis was employed to evaluate toxicity of Chlorpyrifos by means of measuring the specific growth rate, generation time, percent growth inhibition, the pigment content of chlorophyll a and carotenoid and the antioxidant enzyme super oxide dismutase.

Tomato is affected by a large number of diseases. Among these, collars rot disease of tomato cause by S. rolfsii is a threatening disease in eastern coastal regions of Odisha. Since, this disease is soil borne in nature, it is very difficult to control by chemical fungicides. The native rhizosphere soil of tomato was used for isolation and screening of bacterial antagonists for their efficacy and growth promotion potential. A total of 54 bacterial isolates were isolated from rhizosphere of tomato of which five isolates viz.

Several management practices have been adopted so far to minimize the disease. But in present investigation based on laboratory and glass house condition revealed that soil application with Farm Yard Manure (FYM) and tuber seed dressing with bio-formulation provided higher germination, excellent growth as well as protection against early blight. The maximum germination percent is 83.33 and minimum germination inhibition percent is 16.

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik) is an important crop, the major states producing lentil are Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab. Lentil is an important component of farming systems in our country. It is one of the important and most nutritious rabi pulses. Vascular wilt causing by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lentis, Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. causing collar rot and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary) causing stem rot, is most destructive soil borne diseases of lentil growing area worldwide. Use of chemicals continues to be major strategy to mitigate the menace of crop disease.

The experiment was conducted to control the Sclerotium rolfsii causing of collar rot disease in sunflower in- vitro condition. Different fungicides, region specific bio-agents and bio-rationals were screened against the pathogen. Among the fungicides Tebuconazole gave significantly (at 5% level) highest percent inhibition of the growth in all concentrations. Among the seven bio-rationals at 10% concentration, the maximum per cent inhibition was observed in neem (69.26%) wherever at 20% and 30% concentration the maximum per cent inhibition was observed in cow urine (80.74%).
