The objectives of this study are first to gain some insight into the difficulties faced by 80 English-majored students at Dong Nai Technology University when it comes to listening comprehension. Accordingly, it examines their perspectives on the exposure of audio scripts at the stage of while listening. Questionnaires and interviews were employed as tools for gathering essential data.

This study investigated into how English listeners from Midland U.S. perceived Vietnamese back vowels contrasting in rounding. The words were produced by Northern and Central Vietnamese speakers. The results showed that Vietnamese vowels [o] and [u] was assimilated to English [oʊ] (77%) and [u] (69%) respectively. [ɤ] and [ɯ] were not assimilated to any English vowels.

Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong has introduced innovative blended problem-based learning (PBL) with the aid of 3D electronic models (e-models) to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) curriculum. Statistical results of pre- and post-semester questionnaire surveys illustrated compatibility of e-models in PBL settings. The students’ importance ratings of two objectives “Complete assigned tasks on time” and “Active listener”, and twenty-two facilitator evaluation items including critical thinking and group problemsolving skills had increased significantly.

However, little attention has been paid to this skill in English language teaching and learning at Quy Nhon University. Of particular interest of this paper, therefore, is to explore how non-English majors at Quy Nhon University perceive listening comprehension in English in order to propose practical recommendations for successfully improving their listening comprehension performance.
