Performance in crossbred pigs
-
The experiment aimed to evaluate the effects of the combination of herbal extracts and essential oils on growth performance and biochemical indicators in the blood of fattening pigs. A total of four hundred fifty crossbred weaned pigs [(Yorkshire x Landrace) x Duroc; 28 days old; 7.21 ± 0.08 kg of BW] were randomly allotted to 3 treatments in a randomized complete design.

Four dietary treatments were evaluated for their effect on growth performance of crossbred (LWY x Desi) male pigs during grower and finisher phases in a Completely Randomized Block Design. A Basal ration (T1) + 100g of Probiotic (Bacillus) + 500 g of enzyme cocktail per ton of feed, T1 + DDGS to contribute 20% of the total protein (9% & 7.5% of diet during grower and finisher phases, respectively (T2); T1 + DDGS to contribute 30% of the total protein (12.5% & 11% of diets during grower and finisher phases, respectively(T3); T1 + DDGS to contribute 40% of the total protein (16.

Pig has a great potential to contribute to better economic return to the farmers. A balanced diet having proper ratio of energy and protein need to be prepared to make the pig farming economical. The present study was carried out on over 30 growing three months old crossbred piglets to evaluate the energy and protein requirement in growing and finishing pigs.

The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of organic trace minerals (Availa-Starter 123®) on growth performance of nursery pigs. One hundred and eighty crossbred weaned pigs [(Yorkshire-Landrace) x Duroc; 28 d old; 7.45 ± 0.90 kg of BW] were randomly allotted to 2 treatments in a randomized complete block design.
