To compare the diagnostic performance of the Node-RADS scoring system and lymph node (LN) size in preoperative LN assessment for rectal cancer (RC), and to investigate whether the selection of size as the primary criterion whereas morphology as the secondary criterion for LNs can be considered the preferred method for clinical assessment.

At the time of benign gynecological surgery, a prophylactic salpingo-oophorectomy or salpingectomy is increasingly being performed concurrently to reduce the risk of future ovarian and fallopian tube cancer. We herein describe a case of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome in which a hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy were performed with a preoperative diagnosis of benign tumor.

Reduced muscle strength- commonly characterized by decreased handgrip strength compared to population norms- is associated with numerous untoward outcomes. Preoperative handgrip strength is a potentially attractive real-time, non-invasive, cheap and easy-to-perform “bedside” assessment tool.

The purpose of this study is to assess whether the application of preoperative forced air warming set to high temperature (> 43 °C) for brief period can increase temperature on admission to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) and prevent hypothermia or shivering during holmium laser enucleation of the prostate performed under spinal anesthesia.

Fluid extravasation from the shoulder compartment and subsequent absorption into adjacent soft tissue is a well-documented phenomenon in arthroscopic shoulder surgery. We aimed to determine if a qualitative difference in ultrasound imaging of the interscalene brachial plexus exists in relation to the timing of performing an interscalene nerve block (preoperative or postoperative).

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) for developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a complex procedure due to associated anatomical abnormalities. We studied the extent to which preoperative digital templating is reliable when performing cementless THA in patients with DDH.

In the absence of practical and reliable predictors for whether the endocervical curettage (ECC) procedure should be performed, decisions regarding patient selection are usually based on the colposcopists’ clinical judgment instead of evidence. We aimed to develop and validate a practical prediction model that uses available information to reliably estimate the need to perform ECC in patients suspected of having cervical lesions.

Advising patients about when they can drive after surgery is common practice after arthroplasty of the knee or hip. In the literature, the preoperative braking performance values of the patients are frequently taken as the “safe” landmark.

Preoperative evaluation of the living renal donors vascular morphology and function with Multi-Detector CT (MDCT). From Jan 2017 to August 2018, when carrying out a cross-sectional study at Cardiovascular Centre of Hue Central hospital, we have performed 64-MDCT with an unenhanced, three enhanced CT scan of arterial, parenchymal and secretory phase and two additional dynamic scans between the arterial and parenchymal phase to assess the renal vascular morphology and function on 154 living renal donors and proceeded to nephrectomy.

Severe knee osteoarthritis, as well as the surgical procedure of total knee replacement that aims to reduce its symptoms, cause great deterioration on the proprioceptive system. Taking this fact into account, and considering that balance abilities positively influence the capacity to perform basic functional tasks, this trial aims to find the short and mid-term effects of a preoperative balance and proprioceptive training when conducted by patients undergoing total knee replacement.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the use of three-dimensional (3D) printing models for preoperative planning in cases of complex fracture. Our study revealed that 3D printing models effectively help the doctors plan and perform the operation and provide more effective communication between doctors and patients, but can not improve postoperative function compared with routine treatment.

Resuming driving is a common concern among patients undergoing hip arthroscopy. The present study aimed to assess whether patients who had undergone right hip arthroscopy presented with poorer driving performance than patients with normal hips and to analyze the time required to regain preoperative driving performance.

Our aim was to identify the preoperative computed tomographic (CT) characteristics most efficient in predicting overall survival (OS) of patients with maxillary cancer (MC). Methods: A retrospective review of CT images was performed in 115 patients with histopathologically confirmed primary MC from January 2005 to December 2013, who were classified into 2 subtypes (epithelial and non-epithelial) according to tissue of origin.

When unfired units are designed with higher steam conditions for combined cycle, multiple-pressure units are usually applied to increase exhaust heat recovery and enhance system performanc The intermediate level may be that required for steam injection fo NOx control and/or a process level. In applications using natural gas, a third pressure level will further enhance overall system performance. Typical design practice is that unfired HRSGs are convective heat exchangers that respond to the exhaust conditions of the gas turbine.
