  • The transition metals are a group of metals that are found in the middle of the periodic table. The alkaline earth metals, beginning with beryllium are to the left and the boron group elements are to the right are termed as "transition element". There are more transition metals than any other groups in the periodic table. Transition metals have several general properties. They are harder and less reactive than the alkaline earth metals. They are also harder than the post transition metals. They make colorful chemical compounds with other elements.

  • This research was conducted over a period of 10 years during which time I lived in five different countries and learnt three languages. The project started germinating when I was still an undergraduate student and first encountered comparative constitutional law at the Max Planck Institute in Heidelberg. It subsequently became the subject of my Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA, equivalent to a LLM) dissertation and of the PhD proposal that I submitted to the European University Institute (EUI), where I undertook most of the research on which this work is based....

  • The main descriptive analysis rates were calculated by using interpolated and extrapolated Census Usually Resident population data from 1996, 2001, and 2006. Rates for 2008 and 2007 (with 2007 being the transition year, on the basis of the gradual implementation of interventions) were compared with the average annual rates for 2 baseline periods (1997–2001 and 2002–2006). For the longer time-trend analysis, rates were calculated by using mid-year population estimates derived by Statistics New Zealand (20).

  • The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of antioxidant [vitamin E (vit E)] and trace minerals [selenium (Se), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn)], high energy diet supplementation and its effect on allometric and physio-biochemical parameters in crossbred cows during transition period. For this, advanced pregnant crossbred cows (n = 20) of 2nd to 4th parity and lactation potential of >10 L/day at 28 days prepartum were divided into two groups viz. control (CON) and treatment (TRT) consisting of 10 animals each.

  • The bubble nucleation in the framework of 3-3-1-1 model is studied. Previous studies show that first order electroweak phase transition occurs in two periods. In this paper we evaluate the bubble nucleation temperature throughout the parameter space. Using the stringent condition for bubble nucleation formation we find that in the first period, symmetry breaking from SU(3) → SU(2), the bubble is formed at the nucleation temperature T = 150 GeV and the lower bound of the scalar mass is 600 GeV.
