Pharmacological treatments, primarily oral NSAIDs, constituted 73.9% usage for knee osteoarthritis. Despite the known adverse effects of NSAIDs, they are recommended for KOA management. This study aimed to analyze the cost-effectiveness of hyaluronic acid injections relative to oral medication treatment in patients with KOA from health insurance payer’s perspective.

In summary, our study provides novel insights into the lipid composition and content of Pacific oysters cultured in Van Don, Quang Ninh. The results demonstrate the temporal variability in lipid classes and fatty acid composition throughout the year, with the highest lipid content observed during the pre-reproductive period. These findings could contribute to better understanding the nutritional value of Pacific oysters and inform future aquaculture practices.

Ebook "Chemistry and technology of honey production" explains and discusses honey and its production from a chemical perspective. It outlines why honey is a special and unique food, being produced by bees from the nectar of plants or from secretions of living parts of plants. Although glucose and fructose are the main constituents of honey, its overall composition is far from being simple or uniform: other substances such as organic acids, enzymes, or minerals are found in varying amounts.

Ebook "Prokaryotic antimicrobial peptides: From genes to applications" will provide an overview of the advancement of fundamental knowledge and applications of antimicrobial peptides in biomedical, agricultural, veterinary, food, and cosmetic products. Antimicrobial peptides stand as potentially great alternatives to current antibiotics, and most research in this newly-created area has been published in journals and other periodicals. It is the editors’ opinion that it is timely to sum up the most important achievements in the field and provide the scientific community in a reference book.

Portulaca granulatostellulata and P. edulisare two subspecies ofcommon purslane. The biomass of both plants was similar; however, with long upright stems and a long vegetative period, P. edulis production was easier. Both subspecies were rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, main organic nutrients’ contents in 25-d-old plants were higher than those in15-d-old plants, and were higher in P. granulatostellulata.

Rice is one of the staple food in Bangladesh. The most important milling by-product of rice is ‘rice bran' which is an excellent source of edible oil. Due to the poor storage facility in the rice milling industry, the quality of rice bran gets deteriorates rapidly. This study examines the deterioration level of rice bran during the storage period in average room temperature (31°C).

This study consisted of a novel potential adsorbent material that could efficiently remove chromium (VI) from aqueous solutions. The optimum operating conditions were investigated including pH, agitation period. In this research, biochar derived from fountain grass (Pennisetum setaceum) coated with glutaraldehyde-crosslinked chitosan and treated with succinic acid to add functional groups was used to create an eco-friendly sorbent (CPES).

A belt of Upper Eocene–Lower Oligocene marine sedimentary rocks extends from Kıyıköy on the Black Sea coast to Pınarhisar in the Thrace Basin, suggesting a marine connection between the Black Sea and the Thrace Basin during this period. The Cenozoic succession of this marine corridor was studied in the vicinity of Kıyıköy along two measured stratigraphic sections.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether the administration of nickel (Ni) was associated with cell apoptosis and also to evaluate whether post acute oral exposure to hyperoside would cause histopathologic alterations in rats. Four groups of male SpragueDawley rats (n = 7) used in this study were as follows: a control group and groups treated with Ni (as NiCI2, 13 mg/kg), hyperoside (Hyp) (50 mg/kg), and Ni + Hyp.

The effects of UV-B light force, exposure time and incubation period on producing caffeic acid derivatives and growth parameters in Echinacea purpurea callus and suspension culture were assessed. UV-B led to an increment of all growth parameters and antioxidant activity in callus and cell suspension and caffeic acid derivatives in cell suspension by increasing incubation period.

A 1:1:1 stoichiometric reaction between CrO3, aqueous HF, and quinaldine affords orange crystalline quinaldinium fluorochromate(VI) (QnFC)(C10H9NH[CrO3F]) in 99.4% isolated yield. A highly efficient, simple, chemoselective, and environmentally benign procedure for QnFC (3 mol%) catalyzed oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones using 1.1 equiv of H5IO6 under solvent-free conditions is described.

The preparation of polyaniline (PANI) microrod arrays in the presence of dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSAH), a structure-directing agent, and in the presence of periodic acid (H5 IO6), an oxidant in aqua-acidic media, was investigated. DBSAH was performed to distinguish the roles of both surfactant and dopant. The method of preparation of DBSAH and H5 IO6 doped PANI (DBSAH–PANI) microrods in a reversed micelle had previously not been reported.

Whole Lung Lavage (WLL) has been an important part in the management of Pulmonary Alveolar Pro‑ teinosis (PAP) since it improves radiologic and clinical parameters. Bilateral WLL is usually performed in two sessions on different days. Few case reports have described one-session bilateral sequential lung lavage (OSBSWLL), and none have described ambulatory management (same-day discharge).

Dextran esters of different amino acids (glycine, β-alanine, L-ornithine, L-lysine) are investigated regarding their pKa values by potentiometric titration. The pKa values of the dextran derivatives are generally dependent on the position of the amino group in relation to the ester group, i.e. the nearer they are located in the molecule, the lower the resulting pKa values are, L-ornithine ester being the exception. An influence of the polymer backbone is ruled out.

High levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids in chicken spermatozoa make them susceptible to lipoperoxidation and reduce their fertility. This study was conducted to assess the effect of sesame seed suplementation in the diet on the semen quality of Ho cocks. Eighteen 13-14 month-old cocks were randomly divided into three groups and were assigned to one of the following treatments: 0% SS (control), 5% SS, or 7% sesame seeds per kg of diet for ten consecutive weeks after a two-week adaptation period. Semen characteristics were evaluated once a week.

Periparturient cows release fatty acid reserves from adipose tissue (AT) through lipolysis in response to the negative energy balance induced by physiological changes related to parturition and the onset of lactation. However, lipolysis causes inflammation and structural remodeling in AT that in excess predisposes cows to disease.
