Permeability prediction

In recent years, the prediction of the effective transport properties have received a great number of investigations. The present work is dedicated to determining the effective permeability of two-dimensional (2D) doubly porous materials made of an isotropic permeable solid matrix in which elliptical shaped pores of any size are embedded. At the interface between the fluid and the solid, the Beaver–Joseph–Saffman conditions are applied.

Suffusion, one of the primary types of internal erosion, preferentially erodes fine grains inside the skeleton of coarse particles due to interstitial permeability. The occurrence of suffusion damages earthen dams and affects the living environment around these structures.

Suffusion is one of the four types of internal erosion and accounts for 46% of erosion phenomena in earth dams. Suffusion is an erosion of fine particles inside the soil structure that move out of the voids between coarse particles caused by permeability flow. Identification of internal erosion is necessary to mitigate the loss of humans and property as underground erosion occurs.

Probe permeameter (also known as Mini-permeameter) has been widely used in many field and laboratory applications where in-situ measurements and spatial distributions of permeability are needed. Mini-permeameter measurements have become popular techniques for collecting localized permeability measurements in both laboratory and field applications.

Understanding the permeability-porosity relationships is the key to improving reservoir prediction and exploitation especially in carbonate reservoirs, which are known for their complex textural and diagenetic variation. Rock type classifications have long been proven to be an effective technique for establishingpermeability-porosity relationships, enhance the capability to capture the various reservoir flow behavior and prediction for uncored reservoir zones.

In this study, we develop a model for permeability for porous media using an upscaling technique. For this, we conceptualize a porous medium as a bundle of capillary tubes with the similarly skewed pore size distribution. The proposed model is related to microstructural properties such as maximum radius, porosity, tortuosity and a characteristic constant of porous media.

The MIC value of compound 30 against Enterococcus faecalis, Listeria monocytogenes, and Bacillus cereus was 8 µg/mL. A computational study for prediction of ADME and drug-like properties (solubility, drug-likeness, and drug score) as well as potential toxicity profiles of compounds 2–40 was performed using the Molinspiration online property calculation toolkit and Osiris Property Explorer. As most of our compounds meet Lipinski’s rule of five, they promise good solubility and permeability.

The existence of shale has a major effect on reservoir quality because it reduces the rock’s both the porosity and permeability. There are several types of shale, and they can be distributed in the sand in four different ways: laminated, structural, dispersed, or any combination of these. Each of them has various features and physical properties. Therefore, shale volume estimation is one ofthemostimportant and challengin tasksto be solved information evaluation.

The soil cohesion and angle of internal friction depend greatly on the soil moisture. Specifically, soil with a lower moisture content has a higher shearing strength than that in soil with higher moisture content. The finite element modeling of moisture transfers in unsaturated soils through the relationship between soil moisture, soil suction, unsaturated permeability and soilmoisture dispersivity is capable of accurately predicting the wetting front development.

Porosity, permeability and water saturation of the reservoir zone were predicted by the RF analysis, compared with those obtained by the DL analysis and validated with the core measurements. It was found that there is a significant improvement in the analysis running time and the accuracy of the RF-predicted well log answers compared to those results by DL analysis. It is therefore recommended that more applications of RF-based well log analysis be done for clastic reservoirs in Vietnam in the future.

The high water permeability of certain biological membranes is due to the presence of aquaporin water channel proteins. AQP1 was discovered in human red cells. AQP1 has been thoroughly characterized biophysically, and the atomic structure of AQP1 has been elucidated. Ten homologs have been identified in humans. These are selectively permeated by water (aquaporins) or water plus glycerol (aquaglyceroporins). The sites of expres-sion predict the clinical phenotypes in humans. Individuals lack-ing Colton blood group antigens have mutations in the AQP1 gene. ...

Following site characterization, working hypotheses about important mechanisms that control the behavior of injected CO2 are developed and tested. This approach has been studied extensively over the last decade from a risk assessment perspective (Savage et al., 2004; Lewicki et al., 2006). The mechanisms that have controlled past behavior, and will control future behavior, need to be understood through fluid flow simulation based on an understanding of the fluid and chemical processes active at the pore level and guided by available injection/production and monitoring data.
