This paper study was not done on this crop about pesticide usage pattern, farmer perception and different decontamination studies for the safety of the consumer.

A survey was conducted in Junagadh district to know the pesticide usage pattern in groundnut during Kharif 2016-17 and 2017-18. Results showed that around 20 insecticides were available in market for pest management among them Imidicloprid was the popularly sold product during both the years followed by thiamethoxam and Coragen.

Diversity of insect pests influenced by pesticides usages, Simpson index (D) of biodiversity index of insects were calculated. Significant difference was observed among the different pesticide usage patterns, and respective unsprayed plots. In cabbage, D=0.62, D= 0.26 in pesticide and unsprayed plots respectively and brinjal, D=0.64, D= 0.31 (pooled) were recorded in pesticide and unsprayed plots respectively where is no significant difference of insect diversity was noticed in low pesticide usage crops maize D=0.83, D= 0.80 in pesticide and unsprayed plots respectively and sorghum D=0.

Agriculture is the most important sector of the economy in India as it provides food and livelihood security. The industrialization of agriculture has favored the use of plenty of agrochemicals including fertilizers, pesticides, micro nutrients, and plant growth regulators in the agricultural fields. Pesticides are an integral part of modern agriculture. The use of pesticides in agriculture is obvious for the prevention of crop-damaging pests, fungus, unwanted plants (weeds) and a number of crop-eating animals like rodents etc.

Repeated exposure to agro-chemical pesticides may increases the pesticide accumulation in food chain and adversely affect on human and environment. Hence, part of farming community shifting from chemical inputs to bio-inputs. In this regard, this study was conducted to know the extent of awareness, usage pattern, product differentiation, factors affecting and purchase pattern of bio-pesticides in Chitradurga and Davanagere districts in Karnataka state. The data pertaining to this study was collected with the help of pre-tested questionnaire during the agricultural year 2018.
