  • In this research, Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations were conducted to explore the temperature effect on the microstructure and phase transition of the Ag0.25Au0.75 alloy. The findings reveal that as the temperature rises, the material's phase transition switches from crystalline to liquid and vice versa.

  • The selective reduction of sulfur dioxide with carbon monoxide to elemental sulfur was studied over ACsupported transition-metal oxide catalysts. Catalyst samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction in order to relate the phase composition to the activation behavior and catalytic performance. The active phase of catalyst was detected as FeS2, and the formation of FeS2 was greatly dependent on the sulfidation temperature.

  • A series of dimeric unsymmetrical liquid crystals derived from heterocyclic 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid exhibiting smectic A and nematic phase are reported. All compounds were prepared by the condensation of 4’-(R-(4- formylphenoxy)butoxy)biphenyl-4-carboxylate with 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid in ethanol. The mesomorphic properties were investigated by DSC and POM, where the type of phase depends on the length of spacer alkoxy chains and the length of the terminal chain.

  • We present the results of a study related to phase transformation of chemically synthesized FePt nanoparticles under high pressure from face-centered cubic into face-centered tetragonal structure. As-synthesized nanoparticles are around 4.5 nm and show superparamagnetic behavior at 300 K. After annealing under 60 bar pressure of hydrogen at 400◦C for 2 h, nanoparticles exhibit strong ferromagnetic behavior with 5391 Oe coercivity.

  • The stable phase of Gd, Tb, Sc, Y and Yb metals can be determined by examining the Helmholtz free energy at a given temperature, i.e. the phase that gives the lowest free energy will be stable. These findings on the structural phase transition temperature are in agreement with previous experiments.

  • In this paper, the hadron-quark phase transition occurs after the chiral phase transition in the nuclear matter, that is so-called quarkyonic-like phase, in which the chiral symmetry is restored but the elementary excitation modes are nucleonic, appears just before deconfinement. In other words, there is the coexistence of hadrons and quarks as a mixed region.

  • he effect of the ZnO addition in pure perovskite PZT−PMnN−PSbN ceramics sintered from 950 to 1200oC has been investigated. The phase structure of ceramics changes from rhombohedral to tetragonal and the temperature decreases with the increase of the ZnO content. The limitation of Zn2+ concentration for the solubility in PZT–PMnN–PSbN systems is about 0.25% wt., at which the ceramic shows some good physical properties such as the density of 8.20 g/cm3 , some dielectric constants including εr = 1,555 and εmax = 32,900.

  • In this paper, we study the influence of surface anisotropy on the phase transition in antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic ultra-thin films using the functional integral method. Besides, spin fluctuations are also given to illustrate these phase transitions. We find that the phase transition temperature of the ultra-thin films may be higher or lower than that of the corresponding bulk systems, which depends on the surface anisotropy. Moreover, we also determine crossover points at which the phase transition temperature is not influenced by the thickness of the thin film.
