  • In this paper, a non-destructive experimental method based on ultrasonic through-transmission technique has been developed to measure phase velocity and attenuation of both compressional and shear waves. Two pairs of transducers are used for the measurements, one with center frequency of 5 MHz, and the other pair with center frequency of 10 MHz. The method is tested on the homogeneous material Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA).

  • In order to investigate hydrodynamic phenomena in two-phase flow conditions in nuclear safety analysis, a series of two-phase flow experiments were conducted using a single flow channel in which air and water were simultaneously injected into the test section. The experiments under atmospheric pressure conditions were carried out with the water velocity and the air velocity covering the ranges from 0.2 to 1.5 m/s and 0.05 to 0.2 m/s, respectively.

  • In this study, a numerical solver has been developed for simulating the interaction of solid bodies with twophase flow. The simplified direct forcing method is adopted to describe the presence of structures in flow, combining with the Pressure-Implicit Split-Operator (PISO) algorithm to address the velocity-pressure coupling in Navier-Stokes equations.

  • In nonlinear optics, the soliton transmission in different forms can be described with the use of nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equations. Here, the soliton transmission is investigated by solving the NLS equation with the reciprocal of the group velocity b1ðzÞ, the group velocity dispersion coefficient b2ðzÞ and nonlinear coefficient cðzÞ. Two-soliton solutions for the NLS equation are obtained through the Hirota method. According to the solutions obtained, b1ðzÞ and cðzÞ with different function forms are taken to study the characteristics of solitons.

  • Charged particles are recorded at the end of the spectrometer by a micro-channel-plate detector. A high-resolution vacuum-compatible chopper is employed to chop atomic beam pulses into a very thin slice. The speed distribution of the atomic beam is determined by analyzing the time synchronization between the laser ablation, the chopper, and the detector. Under our typical investigation, most of the atoms travel at a speed of 1650 m/s. The velocity-selected atoms can be controlled at an uncertainty of 1/1000, depending on conditions of atom formation.

  • In this study, the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation describing nonlinear wave propagation in optical fiber with all higher order effects such as higher order dispersion, self-phase modulation and Raman scattering is considered. Using the numerical method, the effects of the terms third order dispersion, Raman scattering on evolution of ultrashort pulses are investigated in detail.

  • Steady-state operation of a fusion power plant requires external current drive to minimize the power requirements, and a high fraction of bootstrap current is required. One of the external sources for current drive is lower hybrid current drive, which has been widely applied in many tokamaks. Here, using lower hybrid simulation code, we calculate electron distribution function, electron currents and phase velocity changes for two options of demonstration reactor at the launched lower hybrid wave frequency 5 GHz.

  • In the present study, a methodology to depict MFCI phenomena using a flat panel detector based imaging system (i.e., real time radiography) is brought out using a woods metal-water experimental facility which simulates the UO2-Na interaction. The developed imaging system can capture attributes of the MFCI process like jet breakup length, jet front velocity, fragmented particle size, and a profile of the debris bed using digital image processing methods like image filtering, segmentation, and edge detection.

  • The instantaneous velocity of a bubble is expressed as a function separation distance between the two consecutive bubble nose tips (or the position of the center of the bubble). This experimental technique allows studying and measuring with high accuracy both types of flow: full developed and developing slug flows. The major part of this work (experimental set-up, images digitization) is carried out at Kwangju Institute of Science & Technology (KJIST) in Korea.

  • In this project, traffic simulation according to the cellular automaton of the Nagel-Schreckenberg model (1992) with different boundary conditions. The sudden occurrence of traffic jams is successfully realised as well as boundary induced phases and phase transitions are observed in the Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process. The extension to the Velocity Dependent Randomization model leads to metastabile high flow states and hysteresis of the flow. The impact of speed limits on the probability of the formation of traffic jams is investigated.

  • The acquisition phase is one of the major changes in infrastructure from the days before big data. Because big data refers to data streams of higher velocity and higher variety, the infrastructure required to support the acquisition of big data must deliver low, predictable latency in both capturing data and in executing short, simple queries; be able to handle very high transaction volumes, often in a distributed environment; and support flexible, dynamic data structures. NoSQL databases are frequently used to acquire and store big data.

  • These lectures intend to give a self-contained exposure of some techniques for computing the evolution of plane curves. The motions of interest are the so-called motions by curvature. They mean that, at any instant, each point of the curve moves with a normal velocity equal to a function of the curvature at this point. This kind of evolution is of some interest in differential geometry, for instance in the problem of minimal surfaces.

We believe that climate change issues are very important and that climate change (related) policy will lead to more focus on, for instance, energy efficiency and urban regeneration and that it will lead to shifting tenant and investor preferences; Social: For us this means that we focus on human rights and work conditions.
