In this work, 19 newly introduced and some traditional apricot cultivars were evaluated by 20 phenological and agronomical traits and fruit quality attributes. The results showed a wide variation in phenological data, tree vigour (TCSA), productivity [yield per tree, cumulative yield (CY) and yield efficiency (YE)], and fruit quality attributes such as fruit and stone weight, flesh/stone ratio, fruit dimensions, size, shape index, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA) and ripening index (RI).

The first set represented the northern population located in the north of the country. That region is characterized by dry climate conditions. The northern population appeared more diversified and accessions were typically of the bunch type with lower phenological, vegetative and yield traits. The second set was less diversified.

The reproductive phenology of perennial plants in temperate climates is largely conditioned by the duration of bud dormancy, and fruit developmental processes. Bud dormancy release and bud break depends on the perception of cumulative chilling and heat during the bud development.

Apple being a temperate fruit is been widely grown under a large area in the Himalayan regions of India because of the favorable climatic conditions. Mountains are however amongst the most fragile experiencing extreme weather conditions, like rising temperature, uneven precipitation, spring hailstorms, and cold waves which severely affect the production of temperate crops.

To standardize the nitrogen scheduling in DSR, a field was conducted with different Basmati rice varieties with different nitrogen rates and splits at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Regional Research Station at Karnal, India during rainy kharif seasons of 2014 and 2015. Nitrogen had significant positive effect on basmati rice crop resulting in improvement in plant height, number of tillers and effective tillers, grains/panicle, panicle length, 1000-grain weight, grain yield and straw yield with increase in dose from 90 to 100 and 110 kg ha-1 in succession.

Soybean crop is grown predominantly under rainfed conditions in Vidarbha region where weather parameters play an important role at different phenophase of the crop influencing the growth, development and final yield performance. But amongst them, only few parameters are significantly contributing to the crop growth and yield. So in order to identify such parameters and quantify their contribution, a field investigation was carried out with four sowing times and three varieties with four replications and 12 treatments.

The increasing temperature associated with climate change impacts grapevine phenology and development with critical effects on grape yield and composition. Plant breeding has the potential to deliver new cultivars with stable yield and quality under warmer climate conditions, but this requires the identification of stable genetic determinants.

In North West Plain Zone (NWPZ), where the hot, dry wind is frequent during grain filling, wheat cultivars suffer from loss of grain weight because of low grain filling rate. A field study was carried out under normal sown conditions to evaluate the phenological variation in forty wheat genotypes. Significant genotypic differences were observed for most of the traits. WH 1105, WH 1138 and HD 2967 had the highest grain yield per plant 1150.0, 1136.7 and 1103.3 g/plot respectively.

Phenological studies at different stages of crop growth are important to mitigate the ill effects of climate change to which saffron is very much sensitive and to predict the production system modules involving cultural practices and crop protection systems. Study on phenological growth stages of natural temporal sub-populations of Kashmir saffron (Crocus sativus L.) carried over 2 years revealed that the ontogenesis period of saffron with above ground organs is almost similar to period showing no organs above ground.

Green gram (Vigna radiate L.) is a short day plant and generally requires fairly hot conditions for its optimum growth and yield. Crop growth and development are closely related with energy requirement parameters, such as growing degree days (GDD), photothermal unit (PTU) and Helio-thermal Units (HTU).
