Germinal center-derived B cell lymphomas are tumors of the lymphoid tissues representing one of the most heterogeneous malignancies. Here we characterize the variety of transcriptomic phenotypes of this disease based on 873 biopsy specimens collected in the German Cancer Aid MMML (Molecular Mechanisms in Malignant Lymphoma) consortium.

The pathological phenotype of perineural invasion (PNI) in squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is prevalent but highly heterogeneous. Methods: Postoperative specimens from all patients with ESCC at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital were evaluated for PNI using haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and S100 immunohistochemistry (IHC). We determined the correlation between PNI status and clinical outcomes.

The ability to analyze human specimens is the pillar of modern-day translational research. To enhance the research availability of relevant clinical specimens, we developed the Living BioBank (LBB) solution, which allows for just-in-time capture and delivery of phenotyped surplus laboratory medicine specimens.

Here we present a discovery of a new fish from the family Gobiidae in Lake Prespa, which is known as a European hotspot for biodiversity and endemism. This is the first detection of a fish species from this family, not only regarding this lake but also in the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia in general. The close examination of the recorded specimens revealed the presence of perianal organ surrounding the anus. This unique organ and various other observed morphometric and phenotypic characteristics point out to the genus Economidichthys.

Gene expression variation is a key underlying factor influencing phenotypic variation, and can occur via cis- or trans-regulation. To understand the role of cis- and trans-regulatory variation on population divergence in chicken, we developed reciprocal crosses of two chicken breeds, White Leghorn and Cornish Game, which exhibit major differences in body size and reproductive traits, and used them to determine the degree of cis versus trans variation in the brain, liver, and muscle tissue of male and female 1-day-old specimens.

. This study was carried out on 120 urine specimen collected from catheterized patients, aged between 20-70 yrs. The screening for ESBL production was done by the disc diffusion test as recommended by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute(CLSI) and confirmed by the phenotypic disc confirmatory test (PDCT) and ESBL Hi Crome agar(Hi media-Mumbai).

Albino mutations are commonly observed in the animal kingdom, including in bivalves. In the blacklipped pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera, albino specimens are characterized by total or partial absence of colouration resulting in typical white shell phenotype expression.

Enterobacteriaceae are the most frequently isolated organisms from clinical specimens. Among them Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae cause a wide variety of clinical infections. With the emergence of ESBLs, carbapenems became the drug of choice. During the past decade, there has been an emergence of carbapenems-resistant Enterobacteriaceae that produce carbapenamases.

SMAD4 is a gastrointestinal malignancy-specific tumor suppressor gene found mutated in one third of colorectal cancer specimens and half of pancreatic tumors. SMAD4 inactivation by allelic deletion or intragenic mutation mainly occurs in the late stage of human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

Metallo-β-lactamases (MβLs) production in gram negative bacilli is an emerging health problem worldwide. We aimed to determine the occurrence of MβLs among gram negative bacilli (GNB) by phenotypic and genotypic methods in Mansoura University hospital, Egypt. We conducted a prospective study on 107 GNB isolates recovered from different clinical specimens collected from different patients. Species identification and antibiotic susceptibility profile was determined by MicroScan Wa1kAway system.

The continuous change in microbial sensitivity to antimicrobial agents necessitates to have knowhow of local susceptibility patterns so as to help clinicians choose the right pathogen specific antimicrobial therapies. This retrospective study assessed the phenotypic characteristics of pathogens isolated from different clinical specimens and their susceptibility to some of second line of antibiotics like Ceftriaxone-Sulbactam-EDTA (CSE-1034), Meropenem, Piperacillin-Tazobactam (Pip/Taz) and Cefaperazone-Sulbactam used in our hospital settings.

The incidence of infections caused by multidrug resistant ESBL producing K.pneumoniae is on rise. The treatment of these infections have become increasingly difficult and life threatening. Knowledge on prevalence of these infections and corresponding antimicrobial susceptibility patterns is essential regionally. Routine standard operative procedures were followed in the laboratory in processing the clinical specimens for culture and sensitivity. ESBL producing K.pneumoniae were identified by phenotypic combination disc test. Majority of K.

Staphylococcus aureus is a versatile human pathogen causing infections ranging from relatively mild skin and soft tissue infection to life threatening sepsis, pneumonia and toxic shock syndrome. The increasing incidence of a variety of infections and, especially, the expanding role of community-associated methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA)--has led to emphasis on the need for safe and effective agents to treat both systemic and localized staphylococcal infections. Clindamycin is considered to be one of the alternative agents in these infections.

In a previous report, we demonstrated the presence of cells with a neural/glial phenotype on the concave side of the vertebral body growth plate in Idiopathic Scoliosis (IS) and proposed this phenotype alteration as the main etiological factor of IS. In the present study, we utilized the same specimens of vertebral body growth plates removed during surgery for Grade III–IV IS to analyse gene expression.
