The present study on genetic variability and correlation studies on Nendran ecotypes of banana (Musa spp.) was carried out at Instructional Farm, College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala to study for their genetic variability and correlation among the nendran ecotypes of banana.

In the present investigation, 21 F1s were generated by crossing seven lines and three testers following Line x Tester mating design. Seventeen hot pepper characters studied manifested higher level of GCV except for seed germination (16.47 %) and seedling dry weight (13.12 %) manifested moderate level of GCV. Phenotypic Co-efficient of Variation (PCV) for germination (16.79%) and seedling dry weight (13.12%) manifested moderate level of PCV.

Twenty one accessions of okra were assessed for variability for 12 characters. Highly significant differences were observed among the accessions. High phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation was observed for per cent incidence of YVMV, yield per plant, fruit weight, and number of fruits per plant indicating the existence of wider genetic variability for these traits in the germplasm.

The pod yield was significantly and positively correlated with pod weight, pod girth, pericarp thickness, seed weight per pod, number of pods per plant and weight of 100 seeds. The path coefficient analysis using the phenotypic correlation coefficient among the pair of characters showed that number of pods per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield. At last it could be concluded that PSM-3 and PSM5 are best performing varieties for this region according to green pod yield.
